My dad and I are looking to go on an aurora holiday to see the northern lights. Any suggestions as to where is best to go iceland, finland, sweden, norway? when is best to go? I have looked at several package tours and they all include a whole of stuff we dont want to do, so might be able to organise our own holiday. I've been to northern finland in early november and was too snowy to see anything then. Any suggestions and advice appreciated

This is a strange place for the post?

Tromso in Norway seems to be the go-to spot. Northern Finland would work too, but you need luck with the weather wherever you go.

Btw, Northern Iceland is beautiful and quite difficult to get to. But its not as far north as parts of norway. Its a brilliant place to visit but not necessarily for northern lights.
