I need to clean the chain on my bike and re-oil it before it starts getting too manky.

What oil and what degreaser would people recommend (I know people have there own favorites). Also the degreaser is to go in a chain cleaner unit.

I dont mind buying online or in store (lbs or even halfords?!)

Jizer is the man for the job. local autofactors should do it in a big drum. Its class. The stuff you buy in halfords or the likes is overpriced muck!

I use autoglym engine and machine cleaner, and finish line wet lube.

Degreaser - I would use barbecue liquid lighter, works very well. Also Diesel fuel or Kerosene is good.

Lubricant - this is my favourite and once you start using it, you will not need any degreaser, as your chain will stay clean.

Just regarding the lube - my chain lasted 11,000km when it got to wear reading of 0.75% while using the above lube.

Help required - if asking for Jizer in a shop rather than ordering online.

I need exact instructions as to how to pronounce it.

Do you use that on the cassette? It's great stuff but is also chief suspect in washing the grease out of my rear hub!

I do...no problems with the hubs. I do apply it sparingly, as you don't need too much. ( Spray it directly down onto the cassette while spinning the pedals)

Where can you buy the rock n roll lube?

I do what my Campagnonlo book says: wipe the chain clean with a cotton rag, oil the chain lightly. Do this every ride.

Jizer/Slicksol - same stuff. Purple Extreme is a good lube...

I use shimano degreaser, pour a little into a jar and use a toothbrush and rag to clean it down.

Finish line wet lube afterwards comes out looking like new.

I bought it in US from en eBay seller, but the manufacturer also sell the stuff directly on their website.

I used to use the Finish Line wet lube, but after I switched to R'N'R I could not believe the difference.
The wet lube is OK, but it makes the drivetrain very messy.
