New RTE travel show "Gateways"

THE Diary can reveal how teacher Aoibhinn Ni Shuilleabhain, who has just landed a job as an RTE travel presenter, is spending her summer holidays exploring the wilds of South America with a group of gal-pals.

The brunette beauty will no doubt be putting all that globe-trotting to good use for her new RTE show Getaways. A programme that she'll co-host with Joe Lindsey, the travel review show will focus on places you can fly directly to from Ireland.
In the six-part series, the lucky pair will be seen heading to Malta, northern Italy, Lisbon, the Izmir region in Turkey, Chicago and Morocco.
She formerly presented The Science Squad and was also a contributor on The Panel and appeared on Celebrity Bainisteoir as she continues climbing up the showbiz ladder

This must be RTE's first travel show since No Frontiers. Aoibhinn must have been lucky to land this job as RTE will have to fit the production around her schedule as a teacher.

In fairness to RTE, it's the type of show that they do well.

I'm pretty sure she doesn't teach anymore. I know they Herald says 'teacher' in their article but it's the Herald. It's not like they check things out before they print them.

There's no way they'd shoot a travel show at weekends and on school holidays just to suit a presenter. It's just not feasible.

Lots of our Politicians manage to fit their Dail jobs around their schedules as "teachers".

I've never really liked RTE travel shows, or just about any travel show for that matter. They never talk about holidays that I'd like to take. They all seem like run of the mill package holidays for family groups or boring people.

Not that much of an issue - she has at least 4 months a year available...

Anyone know if this is starting in the fall? It looks good and Aoibhinn could really make a name for herself here.
