Lighting to create mellow vibe in music room / studio

    Hi everyone... havent posted in this forum so hello!

    Anyway, as the title suggests, i'm currently turning a room in my house into a recording room / home studio.

    Currently lit by a CFL bulb, which is harsh and unpleasant on the eye. The walls are white as well which doesn't help, but I like the clean, minimal look.

    Looking for something to make the room a bit more mellow...mood and tone is everything when recording music and I don't want anyone in the room to feel like a lab rat (including myself!)

    I was thinking of a simple lamp in the corner but i would like to use the roof pendant light if possible (it's just one less thing to plug in and take up space and gather dust if I can do without the lamp).

    Was thinking along the lines of just using a red light bulb or something but I was hoping for a solution which made the room look less like a brothel / S & M dungeon than that.

    Was hoping i might get some creative suggestions here which might give me something different that will also tick the mellow box!! Thanks!
