Few questions

Have a few questions about the grant. I think I'm able to get 50% of my student contribution paid but not entirely sure.

    The max limit is €55,920.

If the gross pay for universal social charge purposes is ---- and amount of universal social charge deducted is ---- - does this mean I'll qualify?

Secondly, when is the closing date to apply?

    Thanks

It's the total pay figure (usually section A1 on the P60) that's counted. On my own P60 that's the gross pay for USC amount minus the actual USC paid. That is the amount that shows up on your P21 or Notice of Assessment which you need to get as well. I think the closing date might be August 31 but am open to correction on that.

    Closing date is this Friday

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

    Thanks for the replies.

Wonder what's the best way to apply then seen as it closes on Friday?

Edit - Do I just apply online? I'm going in to 2nd year but never got anything last year by the way.

Apply online at www.studentfinance.ie - I'd get cracking on it ASAP. There's a great sticky at the top of the forum with loads of info.
