Im a first time poster and not too sure how this works!!

Just looking for some advice/info with regards to a move to sallins/naas/clane/cellbridge area

Im currently living in and working in dub city center with my partner and newborn baby living at home in Limerick.

We have decided to try and get a home and have been thinking these areas as we rent would appear to be cheaper than Dub and also my partner is not keen on bringing up our child in Dublin city centre(no offence Dubs.

I myself think sallins/ naas area would be perfect as you have the sallins train right into heuston where i can get the 145 practically to my office door.

also it is right off the M7 for our journeys to Limerick at weekends etc

I believe the sallins train service is good??

There isnt much property to rent in sallins at the moment and naas would have more options.

Does anyone know about the bus/shuttle service from naas to sallins?? Is it relaible/expensive??

Also was wondering what clane and cellbridge would be like to live and commute to Dublin...

All tips/advsie would be well recieved.

    Thanks

If you mean the rail feeder bus then it only operates a couple of times a day to cover the commuter services, there is however an hourly bus service between Naas and Clane operated by JJ Kavanaghs which stops outside the railway station.

Naas or Clane might be better for renting as they would offer a greater choice of properties and also offer better facilities.

Have you considered taking the Bus to work from Naas? the 126 is very frequent.

I would maybe consider moving closer than Naas. Maybe Celbridge, Leixlip or Maynooth. They are served by trains which are considered to be in the greater Dublin area which means the fares are much cheaper than travelling in from Sallins. Also the train stations in Leixlip and Maynooth are within walking distance of most of the residential areas in the towns.

Celbridge, Leixlip and Maynooth are also served by Dublin Bus. Dublin Bus runs express buses to the three towns which go through the city centre and on to UCD. They run extremely frequently at peak times and the journey times are usually decent as the N4 has bus lanes all the way from Hueston Station out.

In relation to travelling back to Limerick you would be adding 20-30 mins to your journey but for the shorter and cheaper commute I personally think its worth it. I travel to Kerry regularly and from Celbridge you can be at the ring road around Limerick in under 2 hours.

Naas is a lovely town and would be a nice place to live.

I hopes this helps, I live in Celbridge and I have been commuting for a few years now and compared to a girl I worked with from Newbridge my commute was far more straight forward and cheaper. Connecting buses at Hueston can be a nightmare sometimes aswell.

    Thanks for those posts

They have both been very helpful

That is true enough about cellbridge/leixlip etc alright

rent is that bit pricier but would probbaly save it in the monthly commute

Worth considering that of the three, (Celbridge, Leixlip, Maynooth) Celbridge doesn't really have a train station, as Hazelhatch station is outside the town. Also trains go into Heuston from Hazelhatch, whereas Maynooth/Leixlip trains run into the city centre for interchange with the DART. The service is considerably better too.

I live in Celbridge and I use Hazelhatch and Celbridge, works for me. Never use the DB connections at Heuston, always the tram. That too works for me. Sitting on a 67 during term time and being stuck in Lucan and Chapelizod with school enhanced traffic is ugh. Don't do it. If you really must take a bus, use the BE service.

    Bullshít.

The bus times from Naas Poplar Square are on the PDF rail timetable and it is free. The Kavanaghs bus, although a useful link to Naas and Sallins from Clane, charges fares.

This also shows the buses linking Celbridge with the Hatch which are also free.
