Hi there. I have (finally) come across a potential job that I could not be more suited to. How much should I stress my enthusiasm/suitability in the cover letter. Can you come across as too keen, or, worse, desperate? I just want to make sure the person on the receiving end is aware I really want and can do the job. Any advice welcome! Thanks, BBTB

While indicating to them how much you reckon the job suits you/how good a fit you are for the role, how about sending it on coloured paper or something, it'll get you noticed, make sure to follow up with a phone call 3 days after posting it.

    I've done that before.

Em ... I would not send it on coloured paper.

And three days after sending it is far too soon to be ringing up, in my opinion.

Definitely do NOT send it on coloured paper. Follow up is good, but by email, not phone, as phone calls can be disruptive.

As to the cover letter, enthusiasm is great! But show it by explaining how your skils and interests match the position, rather than sounding like a breathless teenager giddy for the job.

Thanks everyone, hope I've struck the right balance - fingers crossed!
