Qashqai 1.6D fuel economy?

    Hey Guys

Just checking if you have heard this or if it sounds real. Ok so got a brand new Qashqai 1.6D 4 wheel drive at the start of June. It was one of the very few 1.6D around and came with 4 wheel drive but never use, always have in 2 wheel drive. Its the SV model so no stupid Panoramic roof weighing the car down.

So when I was buying I looked at fuel consuption and said it would be 6.1 Urban/4.6 City and 5.1 Combined. I do a lot of driving in the city but mostly I am on long motorway trips(Cork/Galway/Belfast etc)

So have done 7300km since I got the car and never have got below 6.9ltr/100km. Now have not reset the clock. Just let it run. Does this sound normal?

I was talking to my mate who has a Qashqai 2, I talked to him before I bought it and he said it was great on fuel. I said it to him a few weeks ago and he said the Qashqai is bad on fuel for first 10k km and then it will bed in and be better??? does this sound feasible?

What average are people running on there?

Wife has the 1.5 version, not suited to motorway driving really as the engine is pulling over 3000 revs at 120Kph. Guess the 1.6 is much the same and even though your in 2wd, your still carrying the weight of the 4wd transmission around.

Oh, and manufacturers figures are aspirational!

Getting to see that, drove to Cork this afternoon, for once kept at 120kph clock speed and not the 120kph on sat nav. Still running at 6.9:mad:

Reset the trip computer, trips in heavy traffic can knock the figures. Try next time you refuel reset the trip computer and see what it shows then.

People talk iutter rubbish about what mpg they get. Try using full tanks and entering the data on fuelly.com or sprit monitor.de. You can then see what others in the same car are getting. If they are getting more then you could probably drive more efficiently. If you are in the mid range then not a lot you can do.

Obviously the idea is to use these sites to review before you buy. But with such a new model there wouldn't be much data to go on.

Drive at 100kph and you will see a big change.

I drove a rented 1.6 diesel- in 2WD mode, to and from Clonmel recently- was generally moving along at 140 kmph+ and got an indicated 5.9

The rental was v new, can't remember km's exactly but was less than 5k.

Sounds like yours needs to be brought into the garage as that is shocking fuel consumption, especially if you are driving it at 120 kmph

Really impressed with the engine - loads of power in it compared to the 1.5 DCI's which are'nt too bad to begin with
