This will help to narrow down your selection.. ;)

A List of Printers with AirPrint (updated April 2012)

Apparently, there are workarounds for printers which do not officially support airprint.

Thanks, the work around seems good.

It seems argos are doing the samsung linked above for about the same price. It doesnt seem to print on both sides (perhaps can manually do) and cost per page is 3.3 - does this seem like alot.

Head is fried - do any inkjets have cheap refills? Currys/pc world seem to have very few laser,

    Any of these worth getting?

    EDIT:
Found these two, the first you only have to replace the black cartridges not them all, the 2nd doesnt say. The first is claiming 11 pages per minute. The second is claiming 28pages per minute. Tempted by one of these.

it shouldnt be about ppm, if you're buying laser it's for volume, not speed. Speedwise, you can get similarly fast prints out of inkjet. Unless you're really upset that your printouts take too the long the spec you need to research most is the Duty Cycle - that is the gauge of how much work the printer is designed to tackle a month. I think the Officejet 8600 plus was somewhere in the region of several thousands pages or more per month.

They're all inkjets by HP. I thought you were looking for a laser printer?

I have stopped using HP since the venerable Lasejet 5L. Today their printers come with a CD that is best used as a coaster but should never be put into a computer. HP's software the iTunes equivalent of the printer world or "AOL of the 21st century". They'll happily plaster your computer with a pile of rubbish ranging from the unnecessary to the downright unwanted, without the users' consent of course.

Thanks, yes started looking for a laser but other than the samsung linked above couldn't find much at a reasonable price.

I will google "duty cycle" for them and see what I get

It's all with the users consent: the current install CDs let you select everything you install, from "just the driver" to the wireless scanning service and even the little useless "applet" that helps you order more ink (eh, just go to the store). Nothing installs without user consent though, that is false.

    It's not.

And for most printers, they don't even provide drivers. Try downloading drivers from their website. All you see, 'your printer "should be" automatically detectyed by Windows'. With the default installation mode you'll get an "applet" to buy supplies (aka adware), you will be involuntarily involved in HP's "customer experience" improvement program (aka spyware), then there is HP Director, HP Photo Manager, HP Web Print, HP Device Monitor, HP Network Printer Service (whether you only have one computer, HP does not care, you'll get a Windows service installed which is wide open to be exploited), OCR software not worth a dime, you're subjected to HP's software updater (mind you not a driver updater, since HP don't do drivers anymore, HP printer driver updates are distributed via Windows Updates, all it "updates" is their malicious code)... the list goes on an on.

I know, you're HP man "at heart" but that doesn't make their shabby products any better. I would not touch a HP printer with a 12 ft barge pole.

When you choose, "default" or "express" installation, sure. Won't be doing that myself though.
