I can currently get bbc1/bbc2/utv etc. on analogue and saorview with just my aerial and tv (located in louth).
My question is when Ulster goes digital in October will I be able to get bbc1/bbc2/utv etc. digitally plus the extra channels bbc3/4 with what I have??

    thanks

I can pick up both UK and Irish stations digitally in Knockbridge. Where in the county are you? If you have decent analogue UK stations already, I'm kind of surprised you don't have any UK digital stations being picked up on the Saorview box already (have you checked this by the way?).

i don't have a box...just aerial into tv but the uk analogue stations are fine

OK I assumed you were using a box, but a Saorview TV and the question still stands. Your Irish channels are on Saorview and not analogue, correct? But you aren't picking up any digital UK channels?

OP might be receiving from Kilkeel, so no Freeview yet.

Did I read that UTV will go HD in Oct?Does this mean those of us who have been paying for ITV1 HD will eventually get our moneys worth,on SkY and Freeview HD?.Sorry if a bit off topic.People ask me from time to time for the ITV1 HD freqs,to enter into the Sky box.

UTV is already HD on Virgin in Belfast. I don't think they have made any announcement about going HD on satellite at least

They have! HD via Satellite and Freeview HD on 24th October. The press release was some time back IIRC.

ITV1 HD is free on Freesat. I think UTV HD will be too.

Yea UTV HD on Freeview but not necessarily on SKY! STV HD is already on Freeview and they are transmitting on satellite (UTV HD not even on satellite!) but still not on SKY EPG!! They are still saying END of year..........UTV HD will not be on SKY before STV HD!

Thank you ,exactly my point,of course boards members will have put ITV 1 HD on Sky HD boxes in "Other channels",and not have to watch UTV ads.

I live in Greenore Louth and my current set up is as follows:-

    1. Aerial on outside of house pointing towards Dublin for Saorview. Good pic quality except I lose all signal in periods of high pressure.

    2. Aerial in attic (yellow tip vertical orientation) pointing towards kilkeel in anticipation of DSO. This is also pointing in general direction of Greenore mast.

    My questions are

    1. Will the current attic aerial also pick up Saorview from the Greenore mast when its switched on or will I need to adjust the current external aerial?

    2. Assuming I have to adjust my external aerial, what type of diplexer would I need to combine the two signals into one?

Kilkeel is the same channel group & polarisation as Greenore, so the same aerial will do for both, provided it's sited where it can get a decent signal. You can't diplex the signals from these 2 transmitters, as the channels used by each are too close to the other.

Thanks Peter. Fingers crossed the one aerial does the job but I suppose I will find out soon enough on the 24th Oct.
