Golden age of TV

With such a great array of well crafted, clever, finely written shows with the financial clout behind to allow for great production, I just wanted to put it out there that this is surely the gold age of TV. Hollywood is increasingly gaining a higher percentage of its revenue from either remakes, sequels\prequels and superhero movies and because of this, smart original screenplays are becoming less and less of a norm.

I believe it is because writers are understanding that now TV is an acceptable means to get their ideas\stories out where maybe years before, I was more so the B list writers on TV. The money that networks are willing to inject into TV is evident in shows such as Boardwalk Empire and Game of Thrones and does point to the fact that they understand the desire of the public for more well produced and written TV programming.

I for one am very happy to see such quality on TV, week after week, season after season but we could see the volume of original material from Hollywood decreasing over the coming years as opposed to increasing, which everyone is hoping for seeing as "there are no original ideas left in Hollywood" lines are being thrown about on t'internet so often. There is hopefully a heathly balance somewhere to be found

    Breaking Bad
    Game of Thrones
    The Walking Dead
    Boardwalk Empire
    Dexter
    Homeland
    The Newsroom
    True Blood
    Mad Men

Other deserving mentions that have gone before..
    The Sopranos
    Thw Wire
    The West Wing
    The Shield
    Deadwood
    Jericho
    House
    Lost
    Battlestar Galactica

network tv is solely responsible for the breakdown of society, with their kardashians and voices being shoved down your throat,

its odd that a show like Breaking Bad could so easily go unnoticed due to lack of exposure, whereas the kardashians are world famous and have a tv show that pulls in less viewers, isnt the media a fascinating thing,

True but a lot of today's quality TV is taken from older movies.

That's mainly cable that does that.

And those movies were taken from books, legends and fairy tales. Everything is derivative.
