Public Sector interview

    Hi,
I have an interview for a public sector science job and was just wondering if anyone has any pointers. A friend of mine had an interview for a job in TCD and said there were six people on the panel and even though she got the job she said it was the hardest interview she ever did. I would have thought that most interviews would be the same format “tell us about yourself”, “tell us about a time when.....” and “why should we hire you” etc but may differ in length or number of additional interviews.
Also people say that public sector jobs are advertised to the masses but often go to someone internal, I assume that people don’t waste their time interviewing external candidates that they aren’t interested in. I’d be interested in any info people may have.
    Thanks
