Iv being living with my partner in her home for approx the last 4 years, during this time I have been paying the full mortgage on the house. My name is not on the mortgage as she had purchased the house before we got together so I was wondering is it possible for me to claim any sort of tax relief on the mortgage?

Is there mortgage relief at source not been deducted authomatically from the monthly repayments?

No there's no relief being claimed, should have mentioned my partner was made redundant a short time before I moved in with her, I didn't think I could claim relief as it is " her house"

Hi, mortgage interest relief would not be linked to whether your partner lost her job or not, it is a relief given at source by the bank you have the mortgage with. Your partner should have applied for it when the mortgage was taken out. This link should explain everything for you, if you think you are not receiving it I would suggest checking with the bank to ensure this is the case. http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/housing/owning_a_home/buying_a_home/mortgage_interest_relief.html

all applications now have to be made online. You'll need information like mortgage account number, date drawn down, if there were any top ups, who mortgage is with etc. straight forward to apply for and you should have a response within a month. I had no idea if I was eligible (had switched lenders and topped up etc along the way) so I just applied anyway. best of luck.
