hissing in ear + tired jaw muscle

    Hi,

About 2 years ago I got some orthodontic work done. A while afterwards I started to get a dull hissing in my right ear. It would only last about 10 seconds and then would go and happened very seldom. About 4 days ago I started getting a hissing sound back in my right ear. Unfortunately it is still there and is very annoying. The muscles in my jaw (on both side under each ear) feel quite strained and tired at times. This muscle tiredness occurred together with the ear sounds. So I'm guessing this tmj thing has caused the tinnitus.

As a kid of about 10 or so, I was told by a dentist that I did have a bit of a bad bite (I say 'bit of a' because my teeth are quite straight - with the exception of the front two) and that I should have braces. Unfortunately that never occurred.

Anyways, I was thinking about going to see my gp tomorrow and get some advise. Maybe he could prescribe me a muscle relaxant or something...would that do any good?
Or I was thinking would it be best to see a dentist instead. Or perhaps an ENT.

Is there anyone in a similar situation (or was in one in the past) that could shed some light on the situation for me?

    Cheers

    DJ
