We've basic sky package in the house, think its around €33 per month.

I was wondering does anyone know exactly how much extra it would be to get sky sports? I was looking at their website earlier and I'm thinking around another €35 is that correct?

I'm getting tempted with the Ryder cup coming up :)

Ya it's 35, you used to be able just to get SS1 but I believe you have to get the all sports channels now.

Doubling the cost of the bill, dunno is it worth it :(

I only really want it for the golf. Will have to think about it

You can get it for a month and then cancel it after Ryder Cup :)

Why not get in just for the golf and then get rid the next month?

Make sure to look for a deal. I got half price for 6 months.... I did order HD at the time as well (cancelled the HD installation next day...a bit cheeky but it worked)
They'll normally throw in 3 months if you're ringing up and you just can't justify the price :)

I've gotten months and months for half price in the past. A little haggle goes a long way.

    Could do that too :)

Then though once I have it I'd probably get greedy and want it for the tournaments every week. This year for the majors I called to my brothers house and watched it there. But that's a 40 minute drive away so not practical to be doing it all the time

Believe me, you'll get hooked on the weekly golf. And its not just Thurs-Sunday.
Watching Shells Wonderful World of Golf at the moment... Golfing World is on next... PGA Tour Classics is after that :)

Just get your brothers account details and use Sky Go on a laptop
Quality is excellent. You won't be able to record but if your ok with that it'll cost zip
Just watch your download limit as 10 hours of golf a day will probably blow it out of the water. So pay for the extra download bundle

Just to add to the above post, if you do get your brothers account details, check to see if your laptop and tv have a HDMI port.

If they do, you can pick up a HDMI cable for €5-€10 (less if you have time to order off ebay). Connect your laptop to the tv and off you go!

True. Even if the laptop is older a VGA cable (assuming TV has VGA) will do same job.
VGA doesn't carry sound but if you have speakers you're fine or you can buy an extra cable to do that too through TV

I have sports and movies but every now and again I ring them up asking for a deal and usually get something off them, full package is normally €76 a month but haven't paid that in over a year now, have half price movies and sprts at the moment so it's only costing us €54.50 a month or something close to that! A friend of mine gives me €10 a month to use on of my Sky go devices too which is good for him and for me!
