First of all, I am a mother hen. I adore babies. Have plenty of nieces and nephews. I am not a mother (yet) but why do parents bring a screaming child into a restaurant after 8.30pm (when they should be in bed) and ruin my dinner. I travel with my job. Had a tough day at work, nursing a glass of wine and all I can hear is the deafening screams of this over tired child who is out because his selfish parents are too mean to get a babysitter.
If it was 6 or 7pm maybe but nearly 9pm!!!!
I can't believe how selfish people can be and before people start, my siblings and friends would never bring their kids out past a certain time at night and disturb others.
It's non stop and other patrons are staring at this ankle biter

I've heard a lot of stories of babies being brought to cinemas late at night and crying throughout the whole thing. Babysitters are expensive, and the parents are selfish, I suppose. Plus, parents get good at blocking out the crying so they forget it disturbs other people.

I can't see how you'd enjoy the experience of eating out at night with a child, though, but then I don't have any children.

Oh this is one of my pet peeves, and as a disclaimer I am a parent. On the rare night we get someone to babysit, the last thing we want to go out to is someone else's crying child. I don't blame the child, what child would want to be out at night, I blame the parents who seem to think every single place should welcome a child with open arms.

What is it about some parents that they can't have a think before they go somewhere and decide not to bring their children with them because the time or place doesn't suit? I hate the 'maybe they can't get a babysitter' argument, if we don't have a babysitter, we don't go out. Simples.

I just hate to see children in a pub at night. It's no place for a child.

It's up to the restaurant whether they allow kids or not and until what time: there are PLENTY that don't allow them late.

They are the ones I go to when I don't have the kids with me. :)

Agreed its not the babies fault. They are tired and just want to sleep. It's the parents I take issue with.
You would be the worst in the world if you said anything.
Well my evening is ruined with a headache and ringing in my ears.
Good to know responsible parents are still out there!

Not really a Ladies' Lounge topic. Ranting & Raving would be better.
