I am interested in finding out how people got on in this course Graduate Diploma in Information Technology and whether there are many jobs out of it.

Coming from an accounting backround would this complement my existing qualifications or would it mean starting a new career from scratch and even requiring further study after.

The deadline for submitting applications is this week so any information would be gratefully received.

I know people have posted on this but its seems quite a while ago and I havent found any information that would help.

    Thanks in advance

Sorry for not replying to you sooner. Unfortunately, the deadline has now passed. I hope you did decide to apply. I'm hoping to start this course part time this year.

I don't think you can say what will happen when you complete this or any college course. It won't do any harm anyway. Especially if you can try and get your employer to fund part of it for you.

For me, I am studying it so that I can apply for the graduate entry jobs I see advertised. This is a level 9 quali, so you will be able to apply for jobs advertising "degree in IT required". As with all degrees, experience is usually required. In previous threads, ppl said they were using this to get into the masters afterwards. It really depends on what job you are applying for.

Business/accounting combined with IT is a good combination in my op. Even if it gets you a basic job in IT to start with, at least its a foot in the door.

From what I read, its a tough enough course. There is a lot of coding in it. 1/2 of first year for the part time course is pure coding. When I first studied code, it took months for it to click with me. It's easy to get left behind if you start to struggle. But if you are good at maths etc, the problem solving sections will be easier for you. The other sections look very interesting also.

Other universities offer more business focused IT programs if you would like that. I did business studies for 18 months, and that was enough for me :) As soon as I saw the modules on this course, I knew I wanted to do it.

Sorry for the long response. Hope you found it useful !
