    Going on the lash.

But it takes me a good 3 days to get over the lash.

Any suggestion on pre binge drinking cures.
Something to eat of drink before I go out and poison myself tonight.

Some say milk. tried that. Was sick as a dog for 3 days after.

Some say lots of water. No.

My once a month night out in Dublin is fast approaching .

A good feed of morphine before you hit the pub will really help.

    Or kill you.

    I can never remember which.

    get dioralyte from the chemist.

dissolve two sachets in 400mls of water, and leave it next to your bed. drink it before you go to sleep. as soon as you wake up do the same again. and the same again when you get up later.

    Works absolute wonders.

The only cure is to man up and stop being such a big wendy.

    Plenty of carbs and protein.
Take a few soft drinks through out the night (even if they're still just to follow shots with).
Eat something before you go to bed (make sure it has carbs and/or sugar).
Drink more water and take two paracetamol.
Make sure there's a full pint glass of water next to your bed so when you wake up to go to the bathroom at 6am you can top up again on fluids.
and finally when you wake up again, make sure there's food you can cook easilly and possibly a sugary drink.

Hangovers are caused by multiple things but some of the biggest culprits are dehydration, low blood sugar and low vitamin b12. The above should help your body stock up with everything it needs.

Edit: remember that alcohol disrupts your sleep patterns too. Your sleep won't be as restful, no matter what you do. So it's best to be prepared to be tired anyway.

That's your problem there, if you were running a marathon you wouldn't just show up. You need training, i.e. regular sessions. That said cant see how it takes you 3 days to get over one night out.

I know everyones body is different ....

But there has been a few times where I had a fry up AFTER drinking. be like 3am in the morning (which is mental) ... then when I woke up I wasnt that bad.

Vast quantities of alcohol will cure that pesky pre hangover. Now hangover prophylaxis on the other hand...:p

    1. Good meal an hour or two before you go out.
    2. Drink at least two cokes/7up/sift drinks during the night.
    3. Get a burger/chips before going to bed.
    4. Take two solpadene just before you go to bed washed down with a least one pint of water.

The above works for me every time.

get a glass or two of coke/7up something with plenty of sugar in during the night - failing that and if you don't pull, a mug of tae before you hit the sack, if you do pull forget about the tea and the hangover will have been worth it

I've heard that smoking weed and drinking alcohol produces less of a hangover. Doing both at the same time is supposedly called 'being dry' (drunk and high). I'm not sure how accurate this is as I only have one or two sources.

Alternatively, filling the belly with food and water also seems like a good approach to lessen the impact of a hangover.

Stick to colourless drinks, anything with quinine seems to help me, big dirty feed after the session, don't smoke.

It's as simple as this, but the amount of people who dismiss dehydration caused by alcohol and instead opt to complain about hangovers is crazy.

two berroca in a pint of water before you go out, two in the morning first thing, no sipping you need to down it in at least two.

Wait, you're saying you DON'T like to eat before you go drinking?
Disaster TBH. The only time in my life that I've ever blacked out and not remembered what I did the night before was when I went on the piss on an empty stomach.

I'm not entirely sure what the science behind it is, but alcohol has a much more severe effect on the brain when you haven't eaten. I presume it's possibly because your stomach isn't busy with anything else so it absorbs and distributes the alcohol around your body a lot faster than it usually can?

I drink 5 pints of water then follow that up with a pint of berocca with 2 neurofen then straight to sleep.
Seems to work anyway, and I usually drink a lot/mix.

you'll be dying for a piss around 7 or 8 though.

by the time you have the 5 pints of water drank you would be sober,

it seem more like a recipe to keep the session going.

5 pints of water on top of the gallons drank all evening? Very high potential for wet sheets there id say.

Well yes I'm usually absolutely pissed out of my mind going home. So I'd need that much water, I used to get the worst hangovers ever, like sweating, shivering ones until about 6pm the next day.

Jam, Black peppercorns, salt, kidneys, carbolic soap, an unplucked chicken, honey, red peppers, black pudding, eggs and pomegranate seeds.

That hangover cure brought down the Roman Empire.*

Chopped finely or blended if you have the equipment - either will do.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,689 ✭✭✭Tombi!

Simple: get a decent dinner (as in something would make you feel stuffed), usually a dinner box for me does it (3 pieces of chicken, good load of chips) about 2 hours before you go out.

Drink whatever on the night out (don't land yourself in the ER, though), get something on the way home to eat, Burger King, McDonalds, pizza, a roll from Subway or whatever (or make something quick at home, couple of burgers or something). Get home, get some water, watch TV for a bit while drinking the water and you're fine.

You can replace the water with some sort of fizzy drink, I guess but it wouldn't really be the same.
Just make sure you eat something before you sleep. At the very least you won't wake up feeling too weak to get out of bad.
And a can of coke the next morning is good, helps you belch and manages to cure a hangover for me for the most part.

Or an even better solution (normally I'd charge to tell you this but I'll give it to you for free): pace yourself over the night. If you drink 10 pints in a night out and cut it down to 7 pints you'll be feeling a lot better. That and don't go drinking unless you've eaten well during the day.

Drink less, or have you not worked that out yet? I'm trying not to be rude here.

was not the question, he needs to drink copious amounts to get the hangover.

I dont know any pre hangover cures, but when I wake up hungover I get in the pool and it sorts me right out.

Maybe a bath for you povs? :P

At the end of your nights entertainment smash a window in your local chipper or taxi rank office and wait for flashing blue lights to appear.

Just as the arriving Garda makes a grab for you start running.
The burst of adrenaline through your body should easily defeat the hangover.

In the event you get arrested you get a bed for the night and save on taxi fare home.

If it's taking three days to recover I'd be concerned you're doing/have done serious damage. Aspirin makes a huge difference to me but it's years since I've been inebriated.

Also, pre-hangover cure = hangover prevention.
