Booked a last minute holiday to Barcelona for the first week in September, now need to book a hostel for 3 nights for 3x20yo males.

I've heard someone say that Albareda Hostel is good, but it seems fairly expensive. Another one that looks good is Urbany hostel, but it is a metro trip away from the main touristy areas, but does have the advantage of being beside a train station (Clot) where we can get the airport train to.

Does anyone have any other recommended hostels?

just back, the place is swealtering hot and i imagine that will continue into September, my advice is pay the cash for aircon accomodation, we stayed in Residencia Pere Felip Monlau(which is university accomodation ), cheap and good location, however the rooms had no aircon and it was as humid as fcuk, so uncomfortable, they kindly gave us a refund for the last 3 nights and we booked into a different place with aircon, the difference was unbelievable, like paradise, the whole holiday went from good to great then. If you wait to the last minute say the day before you go and go to booking.com you should get last minute deals on places, try get an aircon one, there are always hostels available as a last resort, so i wouldn't overly worry about that.

Barcelona is a great spot, beach is great, city is great, lots of nice womens everywhere, nightlife!! enjoy :)

oh this is the place we checked into, rooms were small but had a nice little balcony overlooking the street, location is right around the corner from ramblas, really good stuff. Aircon was great, really comfortable and rooms were clean, showers were tiny though ha. I would stay here again
    Residencia Universitaria Sant Agustí

Thanks a lot for that! Glad to hear you had a good time, Barcelona was a very last minute decision so glad to hear it's a good spot!

Just back from Barcelona too, can't help you with the hostel info, but as above make sure you have air con.

Albareda Hostel is top notch, excellent location, worth every penny. I'm heading back there in a few weeks.

Thank you! I notice there's no bar in it, but I'm guessing it's central location means it's pretty close to bars? Is the surrounding area ok at nighttime?

It's on a quiet street which is a big advantage for a decent night's/morning's kipping but is just a few minutes walk from the bottom of the Ramblas so I'd say its close with a nice separation. It generally has an older and/or better travelled, more considerate clientele. There was no muppetry like slamming doors and is well organised. They do have sangria nights now and again. It's safe as far as I am concerned as long as you are a bit street-wise.
