Hey, firstly off topic: anyone saw the crash on N2 today? some red new car had it's front fully jammed and shattered, so traffic was heavy there, just saw the part where it was being placed on a truck to take away.

    Back to topic:
Today when coming back home on N2, there is like a bridge over N2 which is like mellowes road. Saw an undercover car under bridge and saw 2 garda people standing there, one was guy other woman, then I noticed shes aiming at something which ended up being a that speed camera/pistol thing. I saw them about 150 metres away and dropped to 55 km/h before I was going like 67-ish or around that, well above 60 but under 70. I didn't notice it being flashed or anything, but maybe I wasn't expecting it so didn't see. Would you say it got me or no?

Was she holding the speed gun? If so, they'd have to stop you there and then. The hand held guns don't take pictures.

Nope they didn't stop me, when I passed them I looked in wing mirror saw that other police man looked at me, but didn't go after.

They have to pull you over to give you the ticket, apparently they're brutal to use without the tripod

Alright guess I am safe so :D thanks for replies

P.S - would typical road speed cam capture me for such small break limit?

The Gaurds often allow you about 10% above the speed limit. But, don't rely on this... Some will pull you for going slightly over and then it's down to your attitude and their mood whether or not you're getting a ticket.

Sometimes it looks as though there's a flash when you pass those speed guns. But, I think it's the sun reflecting off the shiny part of it.

Slightly off topic but, did anyone see the army police doing speed checks on the Naas Road (Dublin bound) at 11:30 today? What was that about?

I heard that army police check speed limits of military vehicles only? and not general citizens? I mean so that some guys from army on military vehicle don't race like 180 km/h on a 90 km/h road :D

Hand held device - they need to stop you and show you the speed you were going. If you weren't stopped then happy days.

yep - army don't have any jurisdiction over ordinary folk (except under martial law) and do regular speed check for their own trucks.

You will be ok. If it was the car speedo you were reading, they over read a little by deign, so you would be going a little slower than its reading.
