Earlier today my brother-in-law show me RTE on his old Sky box that he uses as a Free to Air box:confused:. It was in the other channels section with ITV etc. It didn't have EPG but it worked.

He said that there was a update on 19th August and he just followed the instructions on http://www.wildsat.com/astra.htm

    Has anyone heard of this?

Would I be able to tune it into my Humax Freesat box?

    Regards,

Dunno what you thought you were watching but it wasn't RTE on FTA, just added them to my ex-sub SKY box and you get the "insert viewing card screen"

My mother has an old sky box at her house. I will try to install RTE tomorrow and report back.

Out of interest, when Saorsat is officially launched in October will it then be able to be picked up by a Free-to-air box?

Saorsat is available now and has been for the last few months, thread here.

You would need a second dish (or two LNBs on the one dish) and a receiver with DVB-S2 and DiSEqC compatable and a special LNB.

The signal is live now, but it does not carry TV3 nor 3E. It is recommended to get Saorview via an aerial instead of Saorsat as it carries more channels.
