Need to get a new van, (2007 or 2008)
What van is most reliable and cheapest to run?
Will be doing a bit of towing as well.
    Any advice welcome,
    Thanks.

Those are different size vans to be fair. The crafter replaced the lt and its massive. Sprinter is the same van as the crafter pretty much.

Based on the part we sell, I would go for the Transit. Don't seem to sell as many parts as the others & those we do sell tend to cost less.

Trafic/Vivaro/Primastar with high roof? decent pull from the 2.0 dCi too... Good on juice. Should tow up around 2 tonnes braked...

+1 on this for the Sprinter. The company I was recently employed with have gone through a few of them. Went through quite a few recalls. Steering racks and gear linkages seem to be quite weak on them. And parts definitely not on the cheap side. Customer service left a lot to be desired as well.

The only one worth it's salt power wise, of you're carrying any sort of load was the 150bhp variant. The rest were woefully underpowered, and as a result, fuel economy was savaged.

Having said that, they just took delivery of two of the 212, low roof, madium wheel base variant, and power delivery was a bit smoother. Although it was a bit on the noisy side.

Transit is really the best all round option, maybe not as refined as the Merc/VW brothers, but a decent tow vehicle, reliable, and good square load access. If I had to buy it would be the Ford, Lwb mid roof.

Renault master has to be the most reliable big van on the road. Does over 30 mpg good for the size. We have a 2006 one which we both new LWB high roof. Over 200k km on it now. Mechanic looked it over last week and can't find fault have it nearly 7 years and in that time other than servicing tyres brakes timming belt all common wear parts the only thing we ever done was one wheel bearing mechanic couldn't even believe it original gearbox clutch turbo everything even original bushings it's unbelievable. Great van when they are not dogged.

i have a transit t350 09 from new. has 250,000klm on it. Apart from the usual cost
of service and tyres have found it to be very reliable. I have a mix of local and country runs with varrying weights up to 1.5ton loads. I think reliabilty is all down
to the driver and keeping on top of the service intervals which i do.
i dont push it too hard plus im still on original clutch and flywheel.
Replaced one wheel bearing and a vacum pump last year.
Van due to be replaced next year and hope to go for another transit.
I here people saying i would not buy a transit and i know one guy who went through 2 engines in a year under warrenty but he was driving the screws of the thing so any van will not be reliable under those conditions.
