I'm looking at replacing an existing AVR with a 'feature' AVR like the Denon 1713. We're an Apple household so the integration benefits of an AVR which does Airplay and can be controlled from an app are very attractive. I'm wondering if anyone else has gone this route and has any views or has specific comments on AVRs which offer these features (Airplay, network streaming, etc.).

Excellent price, good reviews and all the features you're asking for, haven't used one myself but I'm looking for a new AVR as well and its between this and the Onkyo 515.

My Marantz AVR has AirPlay and while it's a neat enough feature, I don't really use it. I do however, stream music over my home network from a NAS. I use that a lot. The Marantz supports FLAC, and it sounds great. Finding a network AVR that can decode Apple Lossless is a very different matter if you use that format. An Apple TV is the only real option then...

Note : does Onkyo actually support Airplay in their AVRs? Did not think they did. AFAIK, it's Denon, Marantz and some Pioneers.

I linked to the Pioneer which does support airplay. I mentioned the Onkyo because its one of my choices, doesn't support airplay but I dont use it anyway. The onkyo does however support FLAC and Apple lossless via network AND USB streaming, which far outways airplay IMHO.

Thanks for the responses - it gives me something to think about (almost a bad thing as I thought I'd come to a conclusion :) ).
