So if the Gardai pulled you over and you had sheep in the back of a 4x4 or a Van is it legal/illegal?

PS. Don't ask how the sheep got in the back or what it's doing their!

If it's a campervan and the sheep are wearing lipstick you could be in trouble:D

As long as they are in the front you would be ok , just be sure they are tagged correctly as they would be (off farm)

Shouldn't be carrying passengers in a commercial:)

more seriously, believe in the UK its not allowed based on a animal welfare transport law that there is no ramp into the jeep to load them rather than having them in the jeep. Not sure if thats a European law or not, and know dogs are suppose to be restrained.........

Did they just warn you or fine you?

I am only asking about the legal/illegal aspect about transporting 'just say a ram' in a 4x4 or a van on public roads and whether it would be like a dog in the back of the vehicle.

Seen others do it, when someone buys a ram at a mart and puts him in the back of a jeep to bring him home.

I haven't been pulled over by the Gardai with a ram/ewe in the back yet!

You would not want to be wearing wellington's they might think you were a sheepophile.

It is no problem if they are in the front as long as they are facing backwards 1. the guard will find it easier to talk to them and also in case the airbag goes off they will only have tender rump

remember seeing a program about animal welfare officers in Oz at a sheep mart. They didn't like sheep in the car/van/jeep but were leaving people off with a warning.

But what they did before they let the people go on their way was quite interesting... they tied the front right leg and the back left leg together with a bit of rope so sheepy could not jump around:D

was quite funny seeing the sheep in the cars really. Owners thought nothing of it.:pac:

I'm sure you could carry four breeding ewes in a crewcab , as technically they are working for you
I have pictures of a cow strapped onto an open Williams trailer on the M 50 that I must try again to upload for a few comments
