Just sold my Saab. I'll be more than likely looking for a new car in the next 4-6 months.

Just saw this BMW 535D M Sport.

Love the car (but maybe not this one in particular. Tax and insurance are more than a saab 93 but I would get over that.

But in terms of other running costs what would it be like? Fuel I reckon will cost the same as the Saab (1.8i vs a 3).

Servicing how much would that be on average?

Tyres maybe €250 a pop. New set of tyers every 2 years?

    Are these reliable cars?

I've heard other 535D drivers getting around 35mpg and that's pushing it on as well...really are a great car especially with a remap on it..
That's a good spec one you linked to although you can get higher specced ones in the UK etc.
You might also try the http://www.bmw-driver.net/forum/ as those lads know their stuff and can give you reviews etc and any issues they might have had.

I've 207k kms on mine (2007) and cant recommend them enough. 30 - 35mpg is what I get in a mix of motorway and city driving and that would be fairly spirited driving. Servicing from an Indy is 230 euro. Tyres are around 230 - 270 depending on which ones you go for. How long you get on them depends on your mileage but I cant see you getting 2yrs on them. My last set lasted only 6mths but that was 20 -25k kms, and those were continentals.

    I'd do 20-25km a year.

EUR250 each if you stick to the woeful runflats, far less for better Performance Summer (non-RFT) tyres. Rides and handles much better too. My mother has one and it seems reliable enough. We removed and blanked the swirl flaps though.

Afaik, Insurance on these is no more (not noticeably anyhow) than any other 5 series, her's certainly isnt.

I might be wrong but there was a very similar one to the car liked on done deal recently. The mileage was around 200k miles. It may not be the same car but the spec is similar.

I assumed the €250 would be for non run flats!

What are the tyre sizes? I would prefer the comfort of traditional tiers

Wheels are the same as mine, so they should be 245/40/18.

I'd guess (since it's not on the ad) that the mileage on that one is a little on the high side.

I'd also suggest a quick search of the forum for feedback on the dealer....

Looking at the drivers seat, I would guess the driver is like me (absolutely mahoooosive) or the car has done a hoor load of miles in its 6 years of life.

20 dealer stamps and 1 owner, looks like an honest car..mileage wouldn't put me off that, you would want to keep the dealer stamps going if you want to sell on and have something positive.
