I am starting work in Cobh, Co. Cork and will be looking for a place to live.

I might rent in Cobh. I was wondering if you wanted to live closer to the city for a better social scene where would you live for a reasonable commute.

I want to avoid any bad areas. I guess I am looking for rent around 300 euro.

I know about daft.ie but I am looking for local knowledge.

    Thanks,

    paul

Ćobh is a nice town. Small shops, seaside. Depends what you want... Closer to the city will be more expensive, but more nightclubs.

Cobh is probably the easiest town in cork to commute to from the city. trains every half hour at rush hours and every hour then.

Well, that depends. If you want to go out in Cork in the evenings, Cobh can be painful as the last train back from town is at 10.30.
Not too bad if you have a car and don't plan on drinking, but otherwise not conductive to socialising in the city.

    Seaside?

Have you ever been to Cobh?

Cobh has a name for being a rough town. Old navy town and all that. I know people from cobh who will not go into the town after a certain time in the evening.

On the other hand the views are lovely and during the day it has a lovely atmosphere.

If you want good night life live in city and get train to Cobh each day for work. As already said train service is good. City centre rentals if you are sharing will be within budget.

Hi I got a place to live in Cobh. I have to move in still. My impression is that the people are friendly. Its really a quite town. There is all the shops you need really. I guess I was not too concerned with the bright lights of Cork city though I plan to hit there sometimes. The drive into Cobh and petrol plus the town is sound enough made me decide it was worth giving a go.

    Thanks everyone for the advice.

Does anyone know how to end a thread?
