    Long shot I know...

I and 8 others are riding to Berlin from Sat25th august.

    www.spintoberlin.ie

I have an edge 500 but realised it doesn't upload routes to it...

I was looking to see if anyone could loan us an edge800 for the week long cycle across Europe!!??

We are aiming to get close to €60,000 for St Francis Hospice, we re well above €50k already!! Originally €20k was our target!!

If anyone could help, it would be greatly appreciated!!

    Thanks

    Dave

Can't help you I'm afraid as I only have an Edge 500 but FYI you can upload routes to it.

    1. Plug your Edge into PC.
    2. Map your route in garmin connect. Go to Plan/courses and on the right hand side above the map you can click "create course". Maybe do it in stages as it is such a long cycle.
    3. Once your route is saved, right hand side again just above the map, click "send to device", follow the on screen instructions and Bob's Uncle :)

You can also set a planned speed if you like so Edge will tell you if you are ahead or behind schedule

Best of luck Dave. Hopefully the weather and the wind will be kind to you. Great charity so well done.

    Fair play to Beasty too.

I've heard that the Edge800 has built in battries with capacity of about 10 hrs. You shall need a charger. An bike mountable GPS with replaceable AA type batteries might be a more suitable alternative

If you click on the link provided by cipo above, you will see they have a driver, and presumably access to rechargers, laptops (from which it can be recharged), etc.

More importantly though you will note there is a Donate Now Button;)

They are committed to using my 800 now - I only hope they can get me a few more KOMs on the way ...

    Thanks for the replies!
Even more huge thanks to Beasty, I'm meeting him in the morning!

As for 10hour battery life- sincerely hope we get nowhere near 10 hours saddle time even on the longest, wettest, most p******e filled day across Europe!! ;-)

    Thanks again
