Bloating - maybe from pms?

Not looking for medical advice but would appreciate if anyone has any experience of what worked for them.

Had a few too many glasses of wine two nights ago and woke up very dehydrated, bloated and uncomfortable. Tried motillium but that doesn't seem to have helped, and it just occurred to me that rather than being some after-effect of the red wine it could be that my period is due this weekend, although I've never noticed massive bloating like this before. Any recommendations for what might lessen the bloating before the weekend? :o

I eat very little carby food, a lot of veg, especially green veg, meat, eggs and fish, no fizzy drinks, not much fruit this week unfortunately. I am however a caffeine addict, please don't take it away from me ;)

Are you drinking plenty of water? You may well still be a little dehydrated.

Forgive the question, but are you perhaps constipated? That might be contributing to the bloat as well. While taking medicines is no substitute for a proper diet, if you're in pain and can't go to the loo, Fybogel is very good (and isn't as dramatic as a laxative). Or eat a few dried apricots, they usually clear out the system and bring down the bloat! :o

Thanks for the reply. It's definitely not constipation, I didn't even consider I could still be dehydrated :o I drank loads of water yesterday but not as much today so that's next on my list. In case that doesn't work is there something in particular I could take for water retention? I wouldn't be that bothered except I have to wear a stupid tight dress and my stomach is really sticking out in it.

Others might have better remedies; I can only suggest keeping yourself properly hydrated and eating lightly. I used to take Deflatine sometimes - that might help you. Not sure if they still sell it here but perhaps ask in your pharmacy.

I find ginger tea works really well for discomfort and bloating, you can get a lovely Ginger and Lemon tea in most supermarkets, it's either Twinings or Barrys
