I was stop for using my mobile during driving.
But the letter I receive has different name on it.
So, I presume Gardai just made a technical mistake.
I ignore all the letters there after.
Now what consequences it may have?

Where you on the phone while driving?

If so, stop being tight.. Pay the fine and learn your lesson and don't do it again/get a hands free kit.

Cant do so. They told me in the Garda station that the person who stooped me will contact me to fix the error but he never did. I said screw this i have three kids and im very busy man. No tim to run there and back between Garda stations. If they cant do they job properly let them pay this fine.
(name and second name are totally wrong)

You broke the law, take the punishment. If you knock someone down and they die because you are a very busy man on your mobile phone.....good luck to you.

Hi Nocrime...I dont understand something here. If you received a letter, was that not in your name?

If it goes to court it'll get thrown out. There's not many people that wouldn't be delighted to get away with it,

Another motorist who thinks he's above the law.

If it's completely the wrong name, what will happen if nobody shows up in court? Presumably "Lynyrd Skynyrd" will get an arrest mandate, when the Guards show up, "No one here by that name, sorry"

This happened me personally. My surname was one letter off.

I live in louth and my speeding offence happened in clare. I didn't fancy trekking the whole way back down to contest it in court, so decided just to pay up.

When I went to the post office to pay, it was refused because the name on the FPN didn't match the name on my licence and they gave me a slip to confirm this. I brought this down to my local garda station and explained what happened.

They gave me the number of ennis garda traffic corps, and the gardas name so I rang and explained. After he heard that i'd attempted to pay up, he told me to take it as a warning and he'd strike the notice.

I haven't had a run in with the guards since :)

Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there a thread here recently where a member sat in observing a District Court sitting and whenever the excuse that the charge had the wrong ID on it, the judge ordered it to be corrected?

The garda can apply for an amendment and it's up to the judge if he grants it. I was warned that could happen me whilst sorting out my wrong FPN.

Out of interest, If my name is John Smith and a summons for Ted Baker arrives in my front door, why would I be going to.court at all instead of returning to.sender?

So...do you often open other peoples mail? If I receive a letter to my address with another name, it's a return to sender job. Nosey bestaerd.

Maybe you should reread OP's post ....OP didn't get ANY summons, so he has no need to go anywhere.......some other guy with a different name did.

OP should thank his lucky stars, and chalk it up to Karma.....and then get a hands-free kit......

    Ode To The Motorist

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”
