I love posting here more then anywhere else so hoping someone will point me in right direction.

Is there anywhere in dublin city centre youd recommend for a romantic 2 night stay?

Its for a marriage anniversery and it will be using a bluebook voucher I got for best man duties last year so double wedding related.

from looking at the blue book site it seems you are restricted the the merrion hotel in dublin. Also entitles you to chapter one and l'ecrivain restaurants. Some lovely options around the country though....

why didnt I check the site first. d'oh. I'll probably either get a nice hotel and pay for the meal with the voucher or do vice versa. theres not enough in the voucher for both so I wouldnt restrict myself to just bluebook venues.

Some shows in town I fancied going to and dont get much time off to go out at the weekends so wanted to try and hit dublin.

thats what i'd do. Both restaurants are very nice and the pre theatre in Chapter one is reasonable. If you got a good deal in the trinity capital, maldrons etc then you are laughing!

Some places I would recommend around the country are tankardstown, ice house, dunbrody house, hayfield manor, merchant hotel belfast (we went here on a bluebook vouvher from our wedding) ballymaloe - youve probably seen them from gigging!

If you are going to choose a hotel not restricted to bluebook, the Dylan hotel is supposed to be fab!

Some restauraunts I would highly recommend also are Dax, Pearl Brasserie and Sabor Brasil (in particular the latter, it's just gorgeous and so quaint, easily best restaurant I've been in Dublin, and a lot lighter price tag than the others)

I highly recommend the Dylan, great place to bring the missus, food in the hotel restaurant itself is lovely and you're in walking distance to some nice pubs.

aw that's a shame - the Gibson hotel is fab also - it's across from the 02. The rooms are lovely and restaurant is delicious! Think their rates are quite reasonable also..

Some mentioned the Merrion Hotel, if you can book that do. L'ecrivan is around the corner if you have vouchers (and indeed Ireland's only 2 stared Michelin starred restaurant is adjoined to the Merrion).

Merrion is a much better location for someone visiting Dublin anyway.

Locks is a sister restaurant of Pearl and is really really really nice. A little less expensive than Pearl too which never hurts. The food is great, staff brilliant, love the setting.

I thought (mistakingly) this tread was about a break-in in Dublin that happened when people were away at a wedding :o;)
