cant go wrong with either tbh, although if i where to buy a trainer it would be one of these, pretty pricey but at least you wouldnt be bored out of your mind on it

I got the Tacx Speedmatic from Bike24 last week. Used it once so far for about an hour, grand machine and great value! As for avoiding boredom, I had plenty of loud and fast music playing!! Cheaper than those fancy trainers and surprisingly good motivation :P

Got one last year from bike24, and love it. It's hooked up to an old XP box with a 2ghz AMD Athlon and 2gb of memory. You need at least 256mb of a graphics card, which is a very cheap upgrade (~e.g. €20) to most PCs but could be an issue with an older laptop. FWIW, the tacx flow is cheaper on bike-discount.de, particularly once you take shipping into account.

My laptop will be 2 years old this Xmas, and has a 4 cores :D

After sleeping on the idea of buying that Tracx trainer...I really want one now...Dam you Icyseanfitz

Just check, if i ordered it the total cost would be €385.85

I seem to mention this everytime there's a turbo trainer discussion:
    http://www.trainerroad.com/
If you own an ANT+ speed/cadence and HR sensors (e.g. with a Garmin), then this software will convert your "boring" turbo trainer on it's head!

I use trainerroad.com and I think it's fantastic - it's such a cheap way to train with power and gives you access to >100 different workouts. Buy a trainer for €100 and then this software gives you the rest.

How do these hook up to your bike, do you need to remove the back wheel at all?

Also, in the first one suggested by the OP, there is an option for a "Front Wheel fixer" Is that required??
