Sorry if this is a stupid question but spokes keep dislodging on my rear wheel (twice in last month )I think I need a new rear wheel but I rang the bike shop and they only sell sets . If I get one online 700*23C will a different type of wheel fit with my existing set up ? Thanks in advance for any advice .

What do you mean by "dislodging" ?

Is is that the nipples at the rim are becoming unscrewed from the top of the spoke (at the rim) or are they breaking somewhere in the middle?

It might be worth bringing the wheel into the bike shop and letting them have a look. I've had one or two spokes detach from the rim when the nipple unscrewed. It was simple enough to reattach them and tighten them back up again - no problems since.

You would need to be careful about tightening them up though (plenty of stuff on the web to show how) and if not then your local shop might be your best bet.

Much the same would apply to a broken spoke

they are actually snapping at the nipple so they cant be reused and I can see tension on other spokes so there is something wrong with the wheel i think or its just not able for the secondary roads around me which are fairly awful to be fair..

Just get the LBS to rebuild the wheel for u before u buy a new one.

Happened me a few yrs ago with spokes breaking, once the wheel was rebuilt it was better than new, think it only cost €25 ish, cheaper than a new wheel.
