Not being smart but if you need to ask for tips on fitting an engine you probably shouldn't fit it :D you ask for tips on painting a skirting board not tips on stripping the roof off the house and re doing it.

Do you have an engine crane?
Will the new engine start? will there be any immobilisers issues?

+1. Unless you have a fairly good idea of what your doing, don't do it. And the way your question was ask kind of hinted to me that you don'tAs was said, you will need proper gear for the job.I have seen a few weeks back a fella who cliamed to be "good with engines" decide on the advice of his "expert friend" to replace his piston rings despite not doing any proper tests and not even knowing how to change a timing belt. I'l love to see how that worked out. Don't fall into the trap that fella did.

fitted an engine in a fiesta petrol before but this being a diesel and much bigger this seems more difficult.
Replacement engine is from scrap yard and guaranteed.
    I have an engine crane

Well then, assuming you are reasonably competent, you should be able to accomplish it as most FWD set ups are essentially a variation of the same procedure. I am not familiar with the expert but you'd want to check whether a subframe or cross member needs to be removed.
