Love the title of the thread!

About time they did this, they're about 50 years behind the times but at least they eventually did it.

Best of all, golf fans should be spared the endless media debate about the unfairness of Augusta's admission policies and we can just concentrate on the Masters!

Absolute joke! They need to get off the golf courrse and back into the kitchen!

Why? I don't see any problem with a males only club just like I see no issue with a females only club.

    Baby steps man.... baby steps....

Now that would be worth seeing. It hadn't even crossed my mind that something like that could happen but I suppose the door is more open for it than ever before.

They had to do it really. After the whole fiasco of not letting the CEO of a sponsor in it was only a matter of time. They did it now as it looks better then a few months ago when they were under pressure to do so.

Agree with this up to a point. I have no problem not being able to join the irish country women's association for example:D. However, Augusta is widely considered to be a special case. It hosts one of golf's four major tournaments and it has a role to play in promoting the game around the world to men and women. The whole men only thing was becoming an embarrassment to the PGA Tour as well as being an unwelcome fascination of the media. Better to get rid of it IMO.

Would Augusta (or maybe even Golf in the US) be considered a Republican club(game)?

The 2 ladies seem to have very strong ties to George W Bush and hence the question.

I wonder are they allowed to use the mens jacks at Augusta:mad:

Have a read of the cheats thread and that "gentlemen" thing could also be questioned

As a member and being put off by the slow play of riff-raff taking photographs every 2 minutes, I think the addition of female members will only make rounds slower in future so I think I'll play elsewhere.

Lads this is going to have major repercussions...apparently throngs of angry male protesters lined up outside Leopardstown Golf club today in protest at ther awful sexist, misandristic, retorgrade policy of women only members.

    Pics below:

    1334491.jpg

Lead protester Hoagie Johnson was quoted as saying "The issue of disrimination is one of the most pressing issue facing us in the 21st century. We take it very seriously. We have big plans, after this we're off to my girlfriends "women only" book club to protest there and then we're off to Club 30 to protest at their ageist policies of only letting the over 30's in...this has to stop".

Other members of the group were quoted as follows "Rabble, rabble, rabble....."

    Tell ya lads serious ****.

Guys keep this thread sensible or it will be closed.
The next sexist remark gets a ban.

Fair enough. My last post was intended to be ironic, but I can see how it might have been construed as sexist. Sorry.

It wasn't a warning directed at you personally.

    Thanks GreeBo

I didn't take it personally, but I figured I was straying off topic a bit and therefore probably deserved to be included in a general admonition.
