I thought we were very pedestrian. Izaguirre looked suspect for both goals
Haven't seen the 2nd goal but yeah his awareness was poor for the first. You might be right about being pedestrian but in the first half I thought we had plenty of possession in good areas but the final ball was poor. I was confident switching off at half time that we'd get something from the game

How did we play 2nd half?

Commons coughed up possession cheaply tonight imo. I could see him being left out against Juventus. Motherwell deserved their win, full credit to them for taking their chances

Only saw 2nd half, and thought we were pretty poor, aside from some hard work by Forrest. Ambrose and Izzy both at fault for their 2nd, poor defending to allow the cross to Higdon, and poor from Izzy also. Credit to Motherwell, they made it very difficult for us.

Gave the ball away far too easily, like they weren't really in it or something. Players at this level really should be better tbh. I felt we didn't stretch them the width of the pitch like we could have in the 2nd half.

Great ball from Stokes to Forrest for his cross to Sammy though, enjoyed that!

Anyway would rather lose tonight than at the weekend. Must win game coming up, some sweet revenge due also.

In all honesty, what way do we think Lennon will set up v Juve? I think it could be quite defensively so as not to get annihilated by them. Ambrose looks half the player he was before ACON, and at the minute I am having Ledley as our most important player. Commons annoys me at times. Lacks consistency,

4-5-1 with Samaras and Hooper. Going to be a long, long night, with a whole pile of luck required to get anything out of it. Ledley has to play, I agree he's been very good of late.

As for who to play in central defense... your guess is as good as mine! :)

Would go with Wilson and Wanyama perhaps, allowing Kayal and Ledley to play central midfield - or play Wilson and Ambrose with Kayal Ledley Wanyama Foret and Samaras being the 5 with Hooper up front. Interesting to hear NL's comments tonight regarding Hooper - if indeed he does leave in the summer he will be looking for a fair whack of the CL money to replace him.

    I'd go with

    Forster
    Lustig Wilson Mulgrew Izaguirre
    Forrest Wanyama Brown Ledley
    Hooper Samaras

What did Lenny say after the match? I didn't see the interview.

Not sure about Wanyama at CB, not because I doubt his ability there, but more so it seems a waste to have him there. He'll be needed in midfield big time.
    I'd go with

    Forster
    Lustig Wilson Mulgrew Izaguirre
    Forrest Wanyama Brown Ledley
    Hooper Samaras

Think Brown is out with his hip mate.

I've been quizzed by detectives at preswich airport coming back to Ireland after a celtic game for no reason whatsoever.
Thought it a bit strange and intrusive that I was just picked out and had to answer aload of questions.
Could be what they are saying in that article.

Shocking stuff, again we don't know the nature of the behaviour the police were referring to but the general ramping up of use and misuse of powers against Celtic (and other clubs fans?) is worrying

What exactly does that letter mean? It's hard to understand for someone who isn't closely following the situation.

I was wondering that too, if I'm correct someone applied for a driver's license (for work I assume ?) and the police informed the licensing committee that the person involved had/has a banning order.

Something which has absolutely **** all to do with anything else, but will probably mean the person will be refused a license.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,919 ✭✭✭RoryMac

It was a taxi drivers licence I believe and I could be wrong in this but I think the police never even followed through with application for the banning order.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,892 ✭✭✭✭CSF

I'm baffled as to what the problem is with the letter, unless we've grounds to suggest the lad in question was innocent.

What do the Bhoys think of yesterday's statement? I would have thought it wasn't really their place to place to comment?

    Celtic Football Club Statement
By: Newsroom Staff on 01 Mar, 2013 17:45
Following yesterday´s SPL Commission decision, we have been inundated with requests for the Club to make its position clear:

Celtic FC has today made the following statement:

We note yesterday´s decision that Rangers FC has been found guilty of contravening the SPL rules on disclosure of payments over 11 years between 2000-2011. The scale of this amounts to a deliberate non-disclosure of £47 million in payments to players and staff. We also note the penalty of £250,000 which has been imposed.

Like many within Scottish football, including supporters and other observers, we are surprised by the parallel conclusion that no competitive advantage was gained from these arrangements.

However, the implications of this verdict are for the Scottish football authorities to address since the rules breached were specifically intended to defend "sporting integrity".

Throughout this matter, Celtic has refrained from comment on the affairs of Rangers FC while the various tribunals and commissions went about their work.

We will continue to concentrate on our own affairs, and assure our supporters that at all times we will operate within both the rules of our governing bodies and the law of the land.

Our Club is in a great place at the moment and we are enjoying a fantastic season, maintaining our position at the top of Scottish football and enjoying huge success and profile across European football.

We ask our fans to unite with us once again as we look ahead to the rest of the season, to the Scottish Cup on Saturday, to the UEFA Champions League next week and to an exciting future with a young squad of high quality players and a talented manager in Neil Lennon.

Our fans have been magnificent this season, home and away, and as we head towards the end of the season, now, more than ever, we need our fans to be with us and to back the team and the Club. We sincerely thank our fans for their continued support.

I have no issue with the statement which can be paraphrased below

    * Rangers have been found guilty (that little fact can easily be forgotten amongst all the back slapping in the media and the Rangers family about how they were vindicated!)

    * The rule broken was specifically there to ensure sporting integrity

    * The sums involved are vast and sustained over a long time

    * Surprised that the commission decided that breaking those rules did not amount to competitive advantage on the field

    * The implications of this are for the football authorities to deal with

    * Celtic are in the last 16 of the CL, are going to win the title and have a QF Cup tie today so GIRUY

Celtic have no place commenting on a ruling which affects all of Scottish football?

Crawl back under your rock Brewster.

Great quote by Lenny, Paul you are one of he fairer guys on here. No need to be so condescending. You know the abuse I got on this thread by sticking up for Rangers over the issue and the accusations of cheating. The Commission has fully cleared Rangers over the allegations of cheating. As far as Celtic fans were concerned, this was all about title stripping and I found this attitude very regrettable.

Well a win is a win especially when its a cup quarter-final on the road and over the 90 minutes we probably just about deserved it. But we looked like a team with the Champions League on its mind. Still nice to see Stokes get another goal and then come out and make it clear he wants to stay at Celtic. I hope he gets his wish and is given a new contract.

Who gives a **** about EPL fanboys? We've done fantastic to get this far, all I want is for Celtic to make it a game tomorrow. We're there on our merit while other EPL clubs failed.

No pressure on this game, hope we can score a goal to celebrate.

Hopefully we'll go out and try to make a game of it, no chance of going through but we should be looking to take something from the game. If we got a draw it'd be a great finish to the campaign.
