Celtic could possibly move next years Champions League preliminary's to Ireland due to all stadiums in Glasgow being used for Commonwealth Games. Murrayfield and venues in England also being looked at.

Good news for Irish based fans if it does happen
Not gonna hapen according to the BBC.

'Uefa 'would deny' any request by Celtic to play a home Champions League game in England or Ireland, BBC learns'

This was first put out there a few months ago when it was realised that Celtic will be playing 3 rounds of UCL qualifiers for probably another 2 seasons at least. Not surprised that moving a home venue to another country could be blocked by UEFA. My money is on Celtic using Fir Park or Easter Road although they could get special dispensation considering that 3 of the most suitable stadiums (i.e. 50k+) in Scotland are going to be in use (I doubt Ibrox would be made available anyways) and the precedent of playing in Old Trafford in a previous European game. Its just a case of Lawwell greasing the right hands at UEFA

If this was Barca or the like Uefa would have bent over backwards already. Probably just given them a bye to the next round.

Anyway I think a 68k Murrayfield is unnecessary for a qualifier. Easter Road should be grand. Hopefully we put the tie to bed without having to rely on the Parkhead factor anyway.

Still a bit of a kick in the teeth having to use some pish SPL ground while Paradise is being draped in Union flags with GSTQ being belted out ;) Although the redevelopment in the area has been badly needed in fairness.

I take it you do know that it is Scotland that are hosting the commonwealth games not the UK

Yes I am aware that Ibrox, Parkhead and Hampden are located in Scotland. Were you asking me or just seeking confirmation for yourself?

OH i am curious as to why you believe it will all be Union Flags and QSTQ. Seems strange you would think this considering where its being held

I thought it would only be polite given that she is head of the Commonwealth :) why does where it's being held matter? Wouldn't be the first time a part of Scotland was flooded with British jingoism.

Scotland, England, Wales and NI compete as separate nations in the Commonwealth Games, I think that's was Broxi is getting at so I'd image with Scotland as hosts it will be the Saltire and not the butchers apron that will be flying.

I think you will find flags from all the countries in the commonwealth there I would say the only time you will hear QSTQ is at the opening and closing ceremonies and when countries who use it as there anthem win gold

Yes hence the joke. I didn't expect anyone to get so het up about it, then again I didn't expect any The Rangers fans to be browsing this thread.

Because Britain's foreign policy in the 00s has done so much to shed the implications of the term?

Hardly worked up about it seemed a reasonable question. Sorry I didn't realise I was breaking some sort of taboo

the British Empire didn't last long after celtic won the Empire Exhibition Trophy in 1938, maybe its a bad omen for the Commonwealth holding it in Celtic park,Hoopy Halloween :p

Why are people getting pedantic about a joke about flegs and QSTQ at an event which is a relic of the British empire?

I couldn't give two fecks about the British empire, I asked a question in a perfectly civil manner.
The poster says his post was a joke so I will believe him ;)

Champions League: Celtic captain Scott Brown fails with appeal against ban
Celtic captain Scott Brown has lost his appeal against an additional two-match ban in the Champions League.

Uefa imposed an additional two matches on top of an automatic one-game suspension following Brown's red card for a foul on Barcelona's Neymar.

3 match ban stands. Maybe if he was a more high profile player he would have gotten it reduced

This reckless and dangerous play got reduced on appeal.

That was reckless and stupid, but he didn't go out with intent to harm (his eyes are clearly on the ball).

    Brown deliberately kicked Neymar.

As if was ever going to be overturned. Waste of a flight unless you're in the golden circle at Uefa. It's pretty clear the sort of game the governing bodies are encouraging these days. It's grand to roll around on the floor, dive, cheat and con the referee - sure that's just the "continental culture". Just don't bully the big stars.

I didn't expect them to overturn the ban, although, because of the contact and the fact it was minimal, we all know it's a harsh decision.

Celtic team to play Dundee United:

CELTIC (4-4-2) Forster; Fisher, Ambrose, Van Dijk, Izaguirre; Forrest, Brown, Ledley, Mulgrew; Stokes, Balde

Subs: Zaluska, Kayal, Pukki, Lustig, Boerrigter, Biton, Rogic

Balde & Fisher start, hoping for good games from those 2.

Expect Ledley to play 60-70 and replaced with Kayal & possibly Mulgrew withdrawn early for Boerrigter. After that, I would like to see abit of Rogic or Biton.

Forrest & Balde have rolled ankles because of the pitch, nothing serious but the pitch is very soft. Hopefully no serious injuries before the Ajax match

    EDIT

Van Dijk & Izaguirre go asleep at the back

Ciftci puts a lovely ball over the top onto Armstrong who eventually puts it past Forster. 0-1 DUTD

    EDIT

92minute Izzy cross & Mulgrew headers it into the far corner. It looked like Celtic wouldnt get anything

Is there a clip of United's goal? I thought it was f***ing quality in fairness. Defence possibly guilty of letting a ball over the top but Forster did really well considering.

No game clock on CelticTV (ridiculous) but did anyone think the injury time was awful short considering there was a goal and maximum substitutions used?

How did young Fisher play at the back?

How did young Fisher play at the back?

He played ok if you ask me, nothing exceptional but no mistakes either. On one hand I was surprised when he was subbed at half time but on the other, Lennon needed to send on a experienced & form player to up the ante and Lustig was the only choice.

Lennon wanted to take the blame for the team selection afterwards but I dont think anyone be singling out Fisher. The team performance was 'flat' at times and people were passing it for the sake of passing it with no real intent. Izzy & Van Dijk I'd single out for the goal, it was a fine goal despite the defensive lapse. Lennon should definitely give the lad more chances, imo.

We can be infuriating to watch when chasing a goal. Left wing -> central left mid -> central right - > right wing. Repeat ad nauseam. There were times today at 1-0 down late on where our defence were playing possession football in our own half. You'd think we were protecting a lead!
