 You mean it was a Celtic fan thinking he was being funny? I saw the image, didn't hear that, I saw a joke image of a Celtic fan threatening Ally McCoist with a pie in riposte to the Lennon image. Load of nonsense anyway.

Its looks to me and several others that the guy was wearing a Red Puma Rangers Away Top , It was not a Celtic Fan

Matthews is out for 10-12 weeks, pity.

    EDIT

I see alot of chatter over Celtic wanting to bring in safe standing and in general the sale of alcohol at games. I think improving the matchday experience would be a huge boost for Scottish Football, but both these measures needs to be managed correctly.

sorry the daily record article i read surprise surprise blurred the lines on it

The strangest thing about that article was the caption on the image
The Record slammed Gillespie after this twisted image became public

Why did The Record feel the need to remind people of their initial position? Do they want a medal for criticising the picture?

He'll be checking his privacy settings like a hawk from now on!

Seems genuinely remorseful but it was a moronic thing to do considering the hatred and violence previously directed at lennon.

At least he's come out and apologised, that should be the end of it.

That is the reality though. Lennon can't ply his trade without having to put up with serious threats.

Just horrible news for Matthews and for Celtic. He will be a massive loss over these next few months. Just hope everything goes well and he can work his way back into the team come January.

Well thankfully its back to action this weekend with the trip to play Hibernian. Hopefully all out international lads will get back without any injuries now that it seems Lustig is going to be alright.

Brown banned for 3 games, seems a little harsh.

Are Ledley & Kayal fit again?

Expected it to be 3 matches but whether the club can get it down to 2 games on appeal will be tricky enough.

If they are fit, they are lacking match sharpness along with Biton & Rogic so central midfield will be 'weak' in that regard for the Ajax game.

It is harsh. It was a stupid mistake from Brown, but it doesn't warrant a 3 game suspension. The club will appeal it and it should be reduced to a maximum 2 game ban for that offense.

Genuinely not looking to stir or wind up here but are people not glad Brown is banned for 3 games? Best off without him imo as he really is a headless chicken running round in games. Too many times games pass him by and he goes running and kicking people. Definitely not worth the praise he gets.

How many games have you watched in the last 2 years?

With Brown managing his hip injury last season, Celtic fans got to see the difference he brings to the team, its clear as day. He's been immense under Lennon and fully deserving of the praise he'd been getting.

That red card was the 1st time in a very long time since he let down the club

Standard response on here when you question the norm by asking how many games you watch. The answer is all of them! He get hype cause of 1 goal against Rangers, that's it. The team is far better without him in it in my view and now that he's banned for the big games, hopefully someone like Kayal steps up and makes the position his own.

The team is better with him in it. He is the driving force in the team on the field. When others are flagging, he is the one capable of grabbing the game by the scruff of the neck and dragging others into the game.

Mulgrew will definitely play CM v Ajax now. Hopefully Ledley will be fit and he will play as well. If Kayal is picked hopefully he'll make the most of his chance and put in a decent performance, but I haven't seen him play well for a couple of years. Biton is a possibility, but still inexperienced at CL level.

The ban will likely/hopefully be reduced on appeal but he is still likely to miss both Ajax games, hopefully it wont prove to be too costly in those Ajax games. Brown will be missed, make no mistake about that. He'll be back in the team for the CL as Captain whenever his suspension is up.

No, its asking you if you've actually sat down and watched him or Celtic consistently. If you did, you wouldnt come out with questions or comments like the above. As I said, when he was managing his hip injury he was in and out of the team, the drop in performance without him was noticeable. If you were watching, you'd see that yourself and thats the point of the question. Your assessment smacks of someone that watches him rarely to me. And who actually goes on about that goal when rating Brown as a player? You're talking out your hat on that one.

You have been on the bucky again haven't you :D Brown is a rock in midfield and probably the first name on the teamsheet every week when available, we have no one in his class to replace him and he will be a massive loss. From the current squad the players that we simply can't afford to be without for the big european nights are Forester, Brown, Commons and Samaras.

Yes they are both fit again. Imagine we will see one or both of them in the starting lineup tomorrow.

Would have thought that about 2 years ago but not now.

However, I've liked him play on right hand side as I think it gives his game more structure. I feel when he plays centre mid he drifts out of position a bit too much doing jobs that others should be doing. His drive and tenacity is always missed when he's not in the team.

Debut for young Fisher today, best of luck to him.

CELTIC (4-4-2) Forster; Fisher, Ambrose, Van Dijk, Mulgrew; Commons, Brown, Kayal, Samaras; Pukki, Stokes

Subs: Zaluska, Forrest, Balde, Ledley, Biton, Henderson, Rogic

Good to see youth getting a chance

1-0 Hibs, Heffernan. Well offside but the referee is having a bad game from the get go.

    EDIT

Hibs are up for a battle, Celtic are not. One eye is on the Ajax game and its all typified by the way Commons went off at the first sign of a muscle strain.

That said, Samaras & Pukki should have finished their chances. Poor decision making in the final 3rd of the field.
