    Gave it a 6.

Thought it was a decent show but nothing amazing. Considering the card, I was hoping for more.

Jericho/Ziggler was ruined for me by the fact the commentators gave the result away. Every other match managed to achieve what was expected of them, and absolutly nothing else.

Was going to give it a five but then thinking about it I cant remember anything worth watching. Dull show and not a single match being better than ok gives it a 4. Worst effort in quite a while and a shame too as its supposed to be one of the big PPV's. Way too much filler and killing time too.

Not even bothered to watch the trips bork match on youtube, looks like it was a dull PPV.

The HHH Lesnar match was awful I thought. Really poor event sadly.

Gave it a generous 6. A decent show.

Wouldn't argue with someone if they said the undercard felt like a Raw or that it was a one match show that didn't deliver.

Hated the psychology, build up and post match of the main event. If Brock's arm lock was going to be the deciding factor. Hunter shouldn't have blown off his hurt arm from a couple of months ago by saying he has been hurt worse. Hated that the match was too long. Hated that the post match focus wasn't Brock killing the dude instead it was look at that gobsh*te milking cheers.

Enjoyable show, nothing spectacular but nothing terrible either.

Ziggler/Jericho was much better and had more heat from the crowd then I would have expected.Surprised Jericho won.

Danielson/Kane was quite good for a match feauturing two lads with vastly different ring styles, and I was very happy to see Bryan win.

Miz/Mysterio was a bog standard TV match, but nothing offensive.

Sheamo/Del Rio was very good until the god awful finish, which did nothing for Alberto as a heel or Sheamus as a face,so was completely pointless.

Tag match was the usual mid card stuff which the crowd weren't into in the slightest.

    Punk/Cena/Show was acceptable,if not a little short.Right result too.

Brock/HHH was fine, but I was expecting slightly more from the match itself.

    7/10.

Thought we might see a title change - overall not a very eventful PPV. Enjoyed the main event - I wouldn't say 18 minutes is too long for a match of that build. Just average, really Besides it gave them plenty of time for him to work on Triple H's arm.

Disappointed we didn't get Brodus-Sandow - would have been good fun.

Interesting time for the WWE as it's hard to see where they might go from here with any of the big stars. Sheamus-Del Rio had rematch written all over it but surely not - it's been going on for four PPVs already. Interesting to see what plans they might have for the WHC. Also, will they go for Punk - Cena 1-on-1 now for the next few PPVs, perhaps culminating at Hell-In-A-Cell? What about Lesnar, what about Triple H? Raw and Smackdown this week will be interesting anyhow.

Only caught the last two matches and yeah, they weren't exactly spectacular. I thought the WWE title match was ok, entertaining enough although Cena's STF gets worse every time I see it, it couldn't have looked any less painful than both times he applied it last night. Ending was alright, hopefully it sets up a Punk - Cena feud, really enjoyed their one last summer.
As for Lesnar - HHH, for the most part I just couldn't get into it. I probably had too high of expectations after the Cena match and was hoping for another all out war which never materialised. I did seriously start to believe that Brock's diverticulitis had come back though! So that was well done. Decent enough ending too but overall it just didn't live up to the hype for me.

That double submission was the most pointless thing ever. Ignoring the fact that Cena was just laying on top and not actually doing anything for the submission, giving Big Show a second chance was retarded. If the double submission had to happen, Show should have been eliminated and the match continue as Punk vs Cena.

Would have been better just not happening though.

Small thing but I hated how long the Kimura was on but did very little. That's a move that snaps an arm in seconds yet Lesnar had it on for a good few minutes overall before that happened. Was expecting so much more from that match considering both guys are pretty good when it comes to brawling.

Lesnar/Trips was a bit of a let down, slightly underwhelming though i'm not sure yet whether my own personal expectations were set too high. I was expecting two crimson masks, sledgehammers, chairs, more violence, the most we got was Triple H being thrown over the Spanish table, and Brock with a bloody nostril. Can't complain about the finish to the match though. Breaking HHH's arm again was really the best way to end it.

It certainly didn't have the same aura of intensity and legitimacy as Lesnar/Cena. That match set the standard, and last night failed to reach that standard.

    Oh yeah!

Can someone explain to me how beating Dolph Ziggler on a PPV is akin to "winning the big one"? I know its a win at Summerslam, but 90% of the roster have wins against Ziggler at this stage, so its not much of an achievement. I think it might be quicker to list who wasn't beaten Ziggler as of late :P

I know we should give Cena a pass on this because of Punk's koji clutch, but this is the most non-pressured STF ever done! :pac:

was that the brock lesnar guy screaming yes at byran?

Cena seems to get really excited every time he wins, or thinks he wins a match these days. Remember the looks when he got the MitB and then SummerSlam last night when he thought he made show tap. Is he trying to be Daniel Bryan?

I was actually just thinking during Jericho's match during the week "When was the last time anyone actually tapped to the Walls of Jericho?" Should've known Ziggler would sell it as a good submission hold.
Speaking of moves that are never effective, I would love to see someone lose to one of the minor moves some day. Imagine someone tapping to a side headlock or being pinned after a backdrop. :)

Watching AJ skip down to the ring, I was thinking I would like to see Steph come down to the ring like that wearing her usual attire. :D

Funny thing with Fred Durst was they must've expected him to say something explicit rather than flip them off since when I watched, the sound cut out when they showed him.

Finished watching there. Underwhelmed by all except the Jericho match. No better than any monthly ppv and I expect more from SummerSlam. Going with a 5.

Maybe I missed it in the thousand times it was mentioned during the match, but who asked for the HHH/Lesnar match to be no DQ? :P

HHH asked the ref in the pre-show and they replayed the clip mid-way through the show.

Agreed, as a worker hunter has never been a mug, but Cena is just so much better as the underdog.

I thought the ending of the broadcast, after Brock disappeared, was fairly weak as well. Anyone?

I gave it a generous 7. Nothing was too bad tbh but nothing was great either.

Lesnar vs HHH was good but as the match that e entire PPV was seemingly built around kind of failed to deliver. It seemed to be stuck between wanting to be a Cerebral assassin type storytelling match where both men targetted body parts (old injuries) throughout the match and a more Brock orientated faux no DQ match. It wasnt actually a no DQ or Street fight or whatever so lacked the weapons and spots of Brock vs Cena while still making HHH look good as he went the honourable route of not abusing how he got the ref to be lenient despite the fact that Brock did (blatent low blow etc) to the games disadvantage. tbh I quite enjoyed the match its just that I didnt think it was good enough to carry the PPV on its shoulders unlike say Brock vs Cena at the lesser Extreme rules match. I also wasnt a fan of the PPV ending with trips in the ring as many would say milking the applausing and repeating "I'm Sorry" to the crowd. Sorry for what Trips, i'd imagine like myself most (atleast most IWC fans inc boards PW members) will be happy/Relieved you didn't beat Lesnar and despite it being a good enough match I really dont want to see a repeat at Survivor Series or whenever. I would much prefer seing Brock vs someone fresh.

How Trips finished the PPV would also imo at least hint towards HHH having a possible retirement match soon although even more so than others HHH is oneI dont think will ever fully retire as he will instead take up the Vince McMahon role at some stage and get himself rolled out for Marquee matches at mania.

Then there is the rest of the card which tbh seemed far less important.

Jericho "won the big one", to quote the Miz "Really?" that was the big one? the opener vs someone who loses quite a lot in all honesty (despite the fact that yes I'm a Dolph fan). - It was a very good match though and im assuming Dolph might get a win back when Jericho returns (assuming he is leaving for a while with Fozzy) and that this was meerly them ensuring that Jericho didnt lose every PPV match during this run and in essence just being nice to Y2J.

The Miz vs Rey wasnt bad but tbh I really didnt care about this match, maybe thats my own fault but I feel I wasnt given any reason to care about it either.

Danielson & Kane was as good as I could have expected and despite me not being too interested in the storyline before hand I did like Kane's reaction to losing the match which is not something you always see. It made it feel like it mattered a lot to the wrestlers involved and in a way that made it matter more to me who won.

    PTP vs Kofi/Truth

not terrible but again and especially witout AW (Kobe chant at the start made me laugh) I didnt care all that much about these guys competing. Kofi/Truth are just shown as being a level above all other tag teams in the WWE atm and it again is hurting my interest in what seems to be a tag division they are atleast featuring now even if they are not fully pushing it. I almost get the impresion that we wont see new tag champs until the WWE a) lose interest in Kofi/Truth as a team or b) want to push another duo of singles stars against them

I actually kinda liked the ending to the WHC match but I wouldnt have booked it for two simple reasons that im sure have been mentioned already. The Heel/Face dynamic was backwards and this feud has been going on long enough while not getting too much of a reaction from people already but the ending would suggest its not over yet.

WWE title match again I was happy enough with considering Shows involvement which I assume / hope will be phased out now with a potential Punk vs Cena series on the horizon. Apart from the weak ass STF the double submission tap out spot wasnt too bad but most people would logically think, eliminate Show and continue, not allow Show to keep going, but of course Man bear Pig was needed for the finish so whatever. That finish was also the right move even if a little underwhelming as it does now set in motion CM Punk vs Cena again with no MBP dragging it down. The fact that show should/could have been eliminated (at least that he tapped) or that it was him pinned should take him out of the equation while Cena obviously can have a gripe about how Punk opportunistically got the pin after his AA on Show. Not a bad match but again like the PPV it wasnt great either but at least the finish made sense.

Yeah, the big time. Just like end of an era, it means nothing. It only exists in that moment. I am glad that they gave Chris Jericho a victory though because I was getting fed up of watching him lose all the time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,874 ✭✭✭✭Kolido

I give it a 5. It was very uneventful for a ppv like Summerslam. Very predictable. Nothing really settled or advanced in terms of sorylines. The matches were ok in terms of wrestling but nothing exciting happen, I was especailly expecting a lot more from Lesner/HHH. Probably the most disappointing ppv of the year so far.

I watched the WWE title match and the Main event.

The Title match could just have been a RAW match tbh. But had the right outcome, Big SHow Pinned after an AA but Punk stealing the win.

I liked the Main event. Some hard hitting and I was glad it didn't follow the same route as the Brock Cena match with weapons etc. I liked them using Brocks Bowel issues as a way for HH to get the upperhand and the finish worked well for me with Brock surviving two pedigrees.
