leather seat for an E34 and is an E34 considered a classic or ever be?

I have a 1991 bmw E34, serviced every year, excellent condition and runs very well and passed the nct first time last month. The driver's seat has the classic burst in the side of the seat. I went to a place in Santry last year and the piece of leather to cover this would be just under 300euro and the leather would be darker being newer etc

Is there any scrap yards in Dublin that would have a few E34s going for spares etc?

    thanks

also while im at it, would an E34 be considered as a "classic" I have been following the motor forums on here the last 2 years and seems to be a grey area with these models

Im noticing less and less on the roads these days and alot of the ones that are on the roads dont seem in the best condition, seem to sell for peanuts as well which isnt surprising with the high tax on them -having said that great cars to drive and once serviced and maintained -pretty much bullet proof

Totally agree with you very nice car the best car BMW made by a long shot. Just look at the round headlights on the car & it is love at first sight . I Should know i have 2 of them 520i . you should join one of the bmw forums to get help from other bmw e34 irish users .

Will it be a classic ? Yes definitely, in fact some versions such as the M5 Touring are already considered classics, prices stabilised a few years ago and wel lkept ones are going up in price. Only 891 built which makes them rarer and only in LHD.

The car has a classic shape, has aged very well, it was around for 8 years and was a big seller for BMW and was the first mid sized BMW for a lot of people. It was also the first big selling mid sized BMW in many countries that were doing well economically, be it Ireland, Eastern Europe, Asia etc. They are generally very reliable and no major issues are known to them.

I personally classify it as a "youngtimer", not too far off classic status. If anyone has a big barn or shed free I'd consider buying 10-20 of them in various conditions and mothballing them for 10 years. They will only go up in price from now on.

    nice one, will do

yes I find the shape and design are still as modern appealing as they were 20 years ago. Perhaps a little heavy on the petrol when driving in the city they are a great day-day car

when I was needing a new car about 8 years ago everyone was suggesting a new car but Ive always liked the design and put in alot of work at the time to get it to a decent standard -mechanically

the bigger the engine the sooner the classic imho as theirs plenty of 520i's but rarer 530 or greater...

they shall be modern classics in the next few years but their price shall not rocket until e39 and newer models engines become cheap then boy racers buy them all up like they did the e30.

My Uncle has an '89 530i that is in excellent condition. It has been in storage 10 years or so now. He has an '88 520i that has well over 200k miles on it. I personally would love an M5 version, last of the hand built M's.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

I had a '94 530i V8. Superb car, very well engineered. Great to drive, but no modern trickery so you had to be a bit careful, especially in the wet :)

For sure they'll become classics soon enough...

    I would think the E34 M5 will get much harder to come by very soon. A low mileage good condition one is already quite difficult to come by & the handmade tag is always going to carry extra kudos, some more info here;

A friend of mine has a Touring one, with an unusual double sunroof (factory fitted), that he's now put out to pasture......last time I checked, it was parked up in his garage.....
