Shades of brown, as far as the eye could see.

Those halcyon carefree days, before "The Man".

Interesting to see how it looked, IMO.

Ugly as sin, but still look better than the new skin. :pac:

Ah, good old DM6 but weirdly in FOV 360. I remember when games let you set things like your field of view and if you didn't want to see all 256 shades of brown, you could change that too!

Oddly enough the only one I don't remember from them is the 2005 design. Wonder what I was doing that year.

It was quite short-lived, as far as I remember. Cloud did a good bit of work slotting in the "new" Web 2.0 features like xml feeds and DHTML feeds.

Not long after that, the site was moved to vBulletin 3, which was quite a departure from vB2.5, and all of John's hard work would have either had to been rewritten, or they could just use the "Web 2.0" stuff that came with vB3.

They went with the latter, which explains why there was so little drastic change to the homepage from 2006 to about 2010, aside from moving some columns about and such.

That's all very well, seamus, but it still doesn't tell me what I was doing in 2005.

Isn't that when the both of us went hiking in the Alaskan wilderness before getting lost and starving to death?

No wait, that was just Christopher McCandless.

According to your post history, you were reading Joss Whedon and listening to a lot of Whipping Boy.

Oh, and taking the LUAS to work.

I can't remember ever reading a post by Ropedrink where he doesn't pine for the good old days with the gathering cards etc.

I can't remember ever reading a post by Lyle Helpful Cargo before 2006.
