Allocated seating

I've booked a flight to NYC and picked my seat during booking. The site wanted €20 for exit row seats which I didn't buy. Question is, when it comes to actually checking in can I ask if they have any seats with better leg room and will they put people in the seats if they haven't paid. Is it still the case that they need able bodied people in the exit positions?

    Cheers lads.

Don't know about the seat allocation (though I'd suspect if they're charging they won't give it for free to you on teh day) but you still have to be able bodied enough to open the exit and get out of the way in case of an emergency....

I'm assuming the OP is flying Aer Lingus, in that case you can select any seat you want for free at check-in. Including exit rows, although if you're disabled/old/an absolute blubber monster the cabin crew are well within their rights to move you from the row.

I'm sure they would help you out.........but how many ppl will ask the same question on the day?
In addition if you have picked your seat already you must have paid the fee for that (Not sure how much that is on EI longhaul?) So is an extra E10-15 a deal breaker for you?

Picked my allocated seat. Thought I could change seat at a later date so didn't pick exit row for €20. I went to change my seat today to an exit seat and found out I couldn't. I'll gladly pay at check in if I'm allowed, hopefully some left.

I would imagine if you have already picked a seat on the A/C then that is where you will be sitting! The exit rows must be occupied during flight, so if these seats are not bought, the airline more than likely allocate people there when the check in on the day, but havn't reserved a particular seat!!

You could try asking, if you don't ask you don't get and all that!!
