Brake Clicking

    Hi all,
I replaced the front brake on my racing bike the other day, and I have a bit of a problem.
When I squeeze the brake loosely it clicks; if I squeeze it harder, it will click and then tighten the brake pads. The brakes are a bit loose, but that's not what is causing the clicking.
Does anyone have any ideas about what the clicking could be?

No no- this is when I'm standing beside the bike pulling the brake- the bike's not actually moving.

Try to feel if the click is in the brake cable or in the brake mechanism itself.
Does the brake click when you squeeze the bits that the cable pulls on, by hand?

Have you either undertightened or overtightened the mounting bolt? If it's undertight, then you might be moving the little washer with the pattern on it that grips the frame, between the holes that it was gripping against. Tighten the nut a little bit at the back of the fork and see how it feels.

The click is coming from the actual cable. And it is only whenever I pull the lever; if I tighten the brakes by pulling the cable instead of the lever there is no click which leads me to think that there may be a problem with where the cable connects to the lever, but I didn't go near that part whenever I changed the caliper.
    Any thoughts?
