I spent a couple of days thinking about this set up. In the end I took 4 photographs, in total, before releasing the little lad. You have to work fast with animals, but even faster with young ones!

    C&C welcome

Too much white-space, for me personally. :)

The cat is lost in the background of the vase. Maybe a lower angle shot? Still get that mysterious curiosity that cats project but the black cat would stand out better against the contrasting white background. Plus, for some reason that cat looks really sad, like it really didn't wanna be in that vase... ? Its hard to get them to do what you want them to do, but therein lies the skill :)

    Thanks for the replies.

My original idea was to have the cat standing up in the pot. Therefore standing out more, as you said. The camera was set up with that plan in mind. But animals rarely do as we plan! :D

As sad as he looks, the kitten didn't mind being in the pot, he just preferred the numerous nooks and crannies around the room. Curiosity, cat, and all that.

But its important not to stress an animal out too much, especially one so young, so I worked as fast as I could. Four shots in total. This was the only one in focus, with the cat facing the correct direction and that looked "cute".

My set up is still in place. Will be trying again this weekend.
