Replacement motherboard

I have an Asus P8 p67 that has to go back due to a busted SATA controller.

I'm assuming the replacement will be a newer revision, what are the odds I will be able to just plonk the new board in and reboot with my existing windows install? Will windows throw a hissy fit?

It's windows 7 ultimate full edition, I got it at the launch party and I have reinstalled it a good few times already but only on two separate motherboards my old mother board and this newer one.

It should work but it will be installing drivers etc.. for a while.

Am I being a bit dim or something, but how would you get the mobo model number with CPUID if you're getting a BSOD on boot??:confused::confused:

    *cue obvious response* :pac:

Boot a Windows Live CD (i.e. Bart PE) with CPUz. If it doesn't boot from CD (maybe due to a "busted SATA controller"), you can run it from USB. Same goes for UBCD, plenty hardware diagnostic and detection tools on board.

    And there's my obvious response!

    Thanks Torqay!
