Replacement ECU fitted to ford focus

My 01 focus wouldn't start recently, took it to local garage who couldn't fathom what was wrong for a few days, checked all the usual suspects and found nothing. He came back a few days later and said the ecu was gone, so he got one from scrap and changed it over. My issue now is that I have two keys - the new key matches the ecu so it opens the doors by remote and a new barrel was fitted in ignition so it starts the car. HOWEVER this key does not manually open any of the doors, the boot or the bonnet, so I'm stuck carrying two keys. He told me there was no way around it - is this the case? I don't want the extra cost but it feels like I'm going to have to get the driver door and bonnet locks changed at a minimum as I don't fancy carrying two keys around for the foreseeable future.

Any advise on whether he has given me dodgy info ? ta

Surely the electronics and key blade could be swapped to match?

You or your mechanic should have gotten Ford (or someone with IDS) to code the replacement ECU to your own car, would have saved a lot of messing about. That's the way we deal with them when the ECUs fail.

He didn't give me that option and I'm a bit late in the day checking. Is this something can be done retrospectively?

Well you could get your original ignition barrel put back and then get the ECU reprogrammed, but it will cost you more money obviously.

Any idea what ford would likely charge to reprogramme it?
