Australian Exit

Just watching IM UK on Setanta, they keep mentioning an "Australian Exit" on the swim. Does this refer to the fact that they swim two laps with a brief run between, or is it a specific type of pontoon?

It's the getting out of the water and back in again between laps.

Or at least thats my understanding.
