Just a heads-up. This'll be on Showcase (channel number 191 on Sky) from 9pm. Showcase is free-to-air so it should be available on other services with a bit of work but I wouldn't know the exact channel numbers.

Showcase shows alot of regional/specialist programming and this year Mid-West Radio (the main radio station for Mayo, West Roscommon, North Galway and parts of Sligo) have had a mini-success airing a trad/showband music show at 9pm weekdays on it that's produced by Irishtv.ie, a regional production company in Mayo. The same company is doing the Coyle card tomorrow night, which is probably why it's on Showcase.

It's happening in the TF Royal in Castlebar and Coyle is defending the alphabet soup title he won last year against Elio Cotena. Coyle is well-liked around these parts and I expect a decent atmosphere so it could be an enjoyable night's viewing. There's a few familiar faces on the undercard too, and the two-hour timeslot gives scope for some highlights:

Henry Coyle v Marcelo Rodriguez (ARG) for the WBF Light-Middleweight title

Andy Murray v Sergio Priotti (ITL)

    John Waldron v Brendan Fitzpatrick

    Darren Cruise v John Hutchinson

Michael Waldron v Brandon Peake (Pro debuts, both are Ballyhaunis boxers and Michael is John's brother).

Chris Goodwin (ENG) v Istvan Kiss (HUN) for the vaccant WBF Lightweight title

Alexei Collado is also on the card but I can't find who his opponent is.

I'm just glad there's some Irish professional boxing on tv, no matter what it's for. I'd hazzard a guess most won't even have been aware it was on TV so hopefully this'll come as a nice surprise.

Can't see this going too much further....
Rodriguez is a hard man,he's taking some serious punches here.

Coyle has won every round so far. Tidy performance, the only think left to do is to try and knock this lad out.

I've never seen anyone hit so many times and not go down, he'll have brain damage or Cole punches like marshmellows.

One of the best fights ever, but how was it 119 to 109, more like 119 to 9.

You do know how the scoring works????

Coyle was always in control, I have to imagine the rounds to Rod were no more than pity rounds for his sheer endurance.

Coyle is a class apart at this level, he needs to aim for the European title and up the level of competition. On tonight's evidence it's not beyond him, he has very few bad habbits apart from not going in for the kill on a few ocassions when Rod dropped his guard from the sheer damage he was sustaining.

Yes the score of 119 to 109 impies one round was a draw, but it should have been 120 to 108, Henry won every round hands down, there wasn't one close round and even then a score of 120 to 108 still doesn't reflect how lopsided it was.

I agree but there was one reasonably close round, think it might have been the 7th.
Just your comment saying Rodriguez should have only scored 9 was a bit odd.

The 7th might have been close relative to the other rounds, but to me Cole clearly won every round easily. As far as 119 to 9, I guess I was watching too much Olympic boxing.
