be nice to get reports on any ram or breeding sales people attend, give us a flavour of what the trade is like around the country...
I've only been to the Charollais premier so far this year, trade was sticky but everything sold that was there to be sold...

Tullow mart Carlow are selling PB Lleyn ewes Tuesday 28th Aug and their breeders show and sale is the following day.

Not in sheep myself but got a text about it from the mart so said I would throw it up here

Top Price €1220 for a Prize Winner from Bawnogue.

    Champion Garryhinch €900.

Mixed trade and towards the last 20 rams there was F**k all buyers.

Never seen a judge to check the gigot on the rams so much during judging. He was from Kepak.

    Got two rams.

I think thats a great idea having factory man judge, is he just a factory man and not a suffolk breeder?

The judge was from Kepak and not a Suffolk Breeder Cran.

I had no lambs at it Razor8.

Also sheep sale was on at Roscrea yesterday.

Didn't see any posters for the €100 voucher from Redmills until I was at the till.

Been following the Texel premier in the UK online today, their internet feed coverage is top class by the way other societies should take note.
Have counted over 60 lambs so far making over 2K guineas with majority of these over 3k and with 200 lots still to go its mind boggling......

what drives these prices of Texels in the UK over other breeds, are they that popular with commercial farmers over there?

Suffolks have a Webcam at Stirling aswell.

Texels making £60,000,42,000 and two at £20,000gns.

The lad who bought the £60,000gns is Robbie Wilson who owns Strathisla Suffolks and he also started a flock of Charollais last year.

Usually its A buys of B, B buys of C and C buys of A.

Good few Texel lads are prominent Bull breeders aswell.

Then there's a couple of business men who have to much money to know what to do with it and also farmers who get LARGE Single Farm Payments who spend big aswell.
