I know its a no brainer for Katie Taylor as she has accomplished everything in her amateur career and could make a very good living if she turned pro.

But do you think any of the others who competed in the Olympics could turn pro or should they continue their amateur career and wait until Rio 2016?

I would love to see the likes of Nevin turn pro as he would be such an exciting boxer to watch, Although i think he should compete in the next Olympics. Also not sure if he would have the chin...

Out of all the current amateurs who do you think would be the best prospect to turn pro?

Of all the lads I think that maybe Barnes' style is the best suited. Looks to be anyway!

I think Barnes and Nevin should turn pro. Nevin is 23, so if he waited until Rio he'd be 27/28 by the ....which isn't an ideal age to be going pro imo.

Why do you hope she gives it a miss?

The womens' pro game has very little prestige. Her gold medal is worth more than any of the world titles in the pro game. Katie would have to do pretty much what she has done to the amateur game and drag the pro game up with her.

If she that's what she has in her heart I'm 100% behind her but I would be very happy to see her going for a second Olympic gold, particularly if the AIBA pro system is extended to her. The AIBA have to be watching how much of an impact she made at the Olympics and considering their options as well.

Paddy's already stated he's aiming for Rio and he'll be 29 then and would have a serious shot at the gold if he keeps on the upward development curve he's on, he's already in the top three or four in the world at his weight and Shiming Zou isn't going to be around in four years' time.

Nevin seems like the obvious candidate for the pro game, promoted and developed correctly there's no reason he can't win a world title.

I read an article about the top women boxers in USA a few days ago, and the women themselves said there was not enough money in to make it worth their while ,Katie has got very good sponsers and endorsements and im sure more will come her way now that she won the olympic title along with all the other ones she holds

Whilst Nevin showed me versatility in London I still feel that overall his style is much more suited to the amateur game. I can't see how you could be so confident that he wins a world title? Of course, with all the titles out there and some rather average men winning titles and belts he could do well, but I just think that his style is not pro friendly. Not saying he couldn't try to change and that he will not learn in the pro game, but sometimes a style is just a style.

It's mind-boggling how her religion seems to send more people into a froth than her winning the gold medal. Beyond that that article is probably more at home on the thread they have on the Christianity forum. Waters is a good writer, though.

I used to have my concerns about Nevin as a pro till I seem him in the WSB, and realised they were completely unfounded. I think he'd make a spectacular fighter as a pro. He just needs to sharpen up his punching technique, stop slapping as much (particularly with his left hook), improve his strength and conditioning to the longer pro game, although he did seem fine with 5x3's, and we'll have ourselves a genuine World Class Bantamweight/Super-Bantamweight.
