How ye all keeping this windy evening.

    Quick one for ye.
I know a heifer going through a mart has to be brucelosis tested once she is over 18 months and test is only valid for 30 days.

My question is if you are factorying heifers, have they to be in test for bruc or is tb test OK alone.

Not sure about putting heifers to the factory, but isn't the blood test valid for 60 days these days?

They dont need to be in test for anything if going for slaughter, you can send for slaughter from a locked up herd. Check with your dvo for exact details.

If you are slaughtering cattle all you need is that your herd is in test for TB, the animal being in test is not critical. There are a few catches if when you kill an animals out of test there are other animalsnot in test in your herd you may be restricted from selling in the mart. Have not got exact regulations at hand cont the DVO and they will send you out the regs no point in trying to get actual regs over the phone as a lot of staff on the DVO offices do not know them

I never knew that. Are you sure?

I doesn't matter if she was never brucellosis tested but she must be tb tested within eighteen months if she is being slaughtered. The brucellosis test is valid for 60 days if being sold in mart or farm to farm movement.

Unless rules have changed all you had to do if locked up was to apply for a slaughter permit, you can sell stores to a feedlot farm if locked up and haven't got overwintering capacity.
